About the Company Founded in 1923 in central Massachusetts, Gavitt Wire & Cable Company designs and manufactures custom, highly engineered wire and cable products for demanding markets including aviation, military, industrial, medical, and sports & entertainment. We pride ourselves on prompt, accurate service, design expertise, and rigorous in‑process monitoring, ensuring the quality and reliability our customers expect. Guided by honesty and hands‑on leadership, top management oversees daily operations and gives every inquiry, order, and concern individual attention. Position Summary The General Helper supports daily operations within the wire‑manufacturing facility. This role adapts to changing organizational needs and focuses on material movement, basic labor tasks, machine operation support, and safety compliance to help maintain an efficient and organized production environment. Key Responsibilities Material Handling
  • Move raw materials and finished goods using carts, pallet jacks, or other approved equipment.
  • Lift and move items weighing 20 to 40 lbs repeatedly throughout the shift. Operate Machines
  • Operate production machines as needed, following all safety, training, and operational requirements. General Labor
  • Perform a variety of assignments based on daily production needs, including:
  • Moving reels of wire between workstations using a hand truck
  • Operating a forklift to move pallets of raw materials
  • Assisting with additional tasks that arise throughout the day Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all OSHA, facility, and safety guidelines.
  • Use PPE appropriately and report unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Maintain cleaning logs, inspection sheets, and required documentation.
Qualifications Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand, walk, or bend for extended periods. Comfortable working around machinery, noise, and industrial environments. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions when needed. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety procedures. Reliable, self‑motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team. Must have a valid Driver's License Must have a favorable driving record as determined by our insurance company. Work Environment Fast-paced manufacturing facility with exposure to noise, dust, and moving equipment. Seasonal outdoor work required during snow, rain, or storm conditions.

00 am - 3:00 pm OR 7:00 am-3:30 pm with 30 min lunch (depending on daily job assignment)
Pay:
$19.00 - $21.00 per hour
