Job Description Perform a variety of tasks necessary to maintain and improve the general condition and efficient operation of the Tahlequah City Cemetery.

Classification:

This is a safety sensitive position as defined by the United States Department of Transportation drug and alcohol testing regulations the Oklahoma Standards for Workplace Drug and Alcohol Testing Act and/or Oklahoma Medical Marijuana laws. As a safety sensitive classification you will be subject to drug and alcohol testing including random testing. Marijuana is one of the substances included in the drug panel screening. Possession of a medical marijuana license will not excuse you from the testing process or the consequences of testing positive for marijuana. Job Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Mow and maintain the city cemetery grounds and city property. Assist in preparations for funerals and opening and closing of graves. General landscaping and landscape maintenance including: planting; watering; weedeater operation; and fertilizer and pesticide applications. Operates and maintains department equipment and routinely does preventive maintenance before operating equipment. Performs custodial work and litter pickup as needed. Operate the backhoe/loader for basic digging and moving of materials as needed. Opens; closes; locks and unlocks departmental facilities as needed. On call 24/7 as needed. Other tasks and duties may be assigned to the employee as needed by the supervisor in charge and/or city administration that are not included in this job description and may/or may not be in this department. Must be willing to adhere to all applicable rules and laws regarding safety and work in a consistently safe manner. Ability and willingness to perform assigned work in a timely and efficient manner. Must have basic abilities with hand tools and willing to learn more. Other Skills and Abilities Excellent mower operating and control skills. Basic backhoe/loader skills or the ability to learn quickly. Other Qualifications Must successfully complete required drug testing and physical examination per City of Tahlequah's policies. Have and maintain a driving record sufficient to satisfy the insurance mandates placed upon the city. Establish employment eligibility under USDOL and City of Tahlequah rules and policies.
