Summary:
Responsible for performing basic duties related to reassembling locomotive wheel components by performing the following tasks. Duties and Responsibilities of Assembly Laborer
- Inspect and measure journal adapter boxes, journal boxes and components to ensure each part is within specifications.
- Assemble journal adapter boxes, journal boxes and components.
- Record necessary information on Inspection/Production sheets as required.
- Ensures proper safety equipment is worn.
- Attention to detail, able to reject parts for defects, focus on quality.
- Follow proper safety precautions as listed in the safety manual.
- Keep neat and clean work area.
Skills Required for
Assembly Tech:
- Able to lift 50lbs. daily.
- Proficient with precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, etc.)
- Attention to detail, able to reject parts for defects, focus on quality.
- Experience in using electric and pneumatic hand tools (grinders, sanders, etc.).
- Ability to follow written work instructions in English in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Ability to follow safety rules and regulations.
- Experience with precision measuring tools.
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and prior related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Ability:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations, to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Math Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing software; inventory software; internet software; order processing systems; database software and e-mail.
Certificates and Licenses:
Forklift Certification will be provided if needed.
