Glenshaw, PA Job Details Part-time | Seasonal 20 hours ago Qualifications Outdoor work experience Full Job Description Position Summary The Snow Apprentice is an entry-level seasonal position supporting winter crews with sidewalks, handwork, deicing, cleanup, equipment preparation, and other assigned tasks. No prior professional snow experience is required. This hourly / nonexempt role reports to the Field Supervisor / Operations Manager and learns safety, equipment care, and snow procedures under crew direction. Key Responsibilities Clear sidewalks, entrances, steps, and access points with shovels, snow blowers, or approved hand equipment. Apply salt or approved deicing materials under supervisor direction and follow property-specific treatment instructions. Assist operators and crew leadership with site preparation, cleanup, material handling, and equipment support. Learn and follow property expectations, winter safety procedures, communication requirements, and assigned crew tasks. Inspect hand tools and small equipment before use and promptly report defects, damage, or equipment concerns. Remain alert around moving trucks, plows, skid steers, loaders, spreaders, snow blowers, traffic, and pedestrians. Identify slippery areas, refreeze, and trip hazards; immediately report hazards, injuries, incidents, and damage. Follow PPE, safety, and crew instructions; operate equipment only after training and authorization. Report promptly when activated, remain for the assigned shift, and maintain quality, detail, and a steady pace. Accept coaching, improve winter skills and efficiency, and assist with duties according to training and ability. Required Qualifications No professional snow removal experience required; must be willing to learn procedures, equipment, and safety. Must successfully pass the company-required pre-employment background check and drug test. Reliable transportation to the assigned reporting location during winter weather. Respond promptly to call-ins; maintain on-call availability for nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays. Follow detailed instructions, accept coaching, communicate clearly, and work safely as part of a crew. Consistent attendance, effort, accountability, and reliability throughout the winter season. Physical and Environmental Requirements Work outdoors for extended periods in snow, sleet, freezing rain, wind, darkness, extreme cold, and wind chill. Stand, walk, bend, reach, twist, push, pull, climb, and balance on icy, wet, uneven, snowy, or sloped surfaces. Lift and carry at least 50 pounds of tools, salt, and materials, with or without reasonable accommodation. Work around moving vehicles, winter equipment, traffic, loud noise, vibration, exhaust, salt, moisture, and slush. Perform repetitive physical work during extended or overnight shifts and overtime as required by storm duration, accumulation, and client needs; maintain alertness.
