POSITION

Parks/Golf Laborer

DIVISION

PAY SCALE

$15.96 GENERAL PURPOSE Position performs and is assigned tasks that support the public works systems of the City of Hallettsville, primarily in the Parks Department.

ACCOUNTABILITY

This position will be under the direct supervision of the Parks Supervisor and the Director of Public Works.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintains Park grounds, playground equipment, Youth Center, restrooms, and ballfields by mowing, trimming, applying herbicide as needed, cleaning daily, ant and insect control. Maintains the Golf Course by mowing daily, applying herbicide, insecticide, fungicide, and fertilizer as needed Maintain all the irrigations systems in the Park, Golf Course, Garden Center and Library. Maintain planters on the square Mows, trims and applies herbicide to Library, Public Works, Police Dept., Fire Station, Work Force Center, Post Office, all well sites, WWTP, lift stations, cemeteries, and airport. Trim limbs and cut trees and chip as needed. Empty trash receptacle around the square and in the Park including ballfields. Maintains mowers and equipment. Assist other Departments as requested

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT USED

Mowers, Trimmers, Blowers, Chainsaws, ATV, Sprayers, Tractor, Backhoe, Pressure washer, hand tools (shovels, rakes, hoes, etc.).

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Primarily and outside position, ability to perform work in all weather conditions will be mandatory in both daily and emergency conditions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to perform strenuous work in adverse conditions; fingers, hands, and arms dexterity; able to operate all equipment; hand-eye coordination; good hearing and vision; ability to lift 50 pounds and over; ability to climb in, on, and about equipment and vehicles, as well as in and out of trenches; ability to sit, stoop, bend, stand, push, pull, squat, walk, carry, and twist associated with respective field operations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

High School or

G.E.D. 2

years personal or professional experience in grounds keeping

Experience with light to heavy equipment, hand tools Basic Maintenance Capabilities
