The Painter is responsible for preparing and applying various types of paint, primers, and coatings to manufactured plastic parts and components according to strict quality standards and specifications. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and adherence to safety protocols in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Surface Preparation and Finishing Prepare, clean, sand, and mask plastic parts before painting for optimal adhesion and finish. Apply primers, base coats, and clear coats using HVLP spray equipment. Accurately mix paints to meet color and viscosity specifications. Inspect products for defects and perform necessary touch-ups or rework. Equipment Operation and Maintenance Operate and maintain paint booth, spray guns, and related tools. Regularly clean spray guns and mixing equipment to prevent contamination. Monitor paint inventory and report low stock to the supervisor. Perform scheduled routine maintenance on painting equipment. Quality and Safety Compliance Follow safety procedures and use required PPE. Adhere to environmental regulations for paint disposal and ventilation. Maintain a clean work area (paint booth and preparation zones). Ensure all painted parts meet quality and customer specifications. Teamwork and Communication Collaborate with the production team for efficient workflow and to meet goals. Promptly communicate equipment malfunctions, shortages, or quality issues to the Production Supervisor. Preferred Skills Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive motions Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 40 pounds Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity Ability to work in an environment with exposure to paint fumes, solvents, and noise (with appropriate PPE) Required Skills High school diploma or equivalent Proven experience (1+ years preferred) as an industrial, automotive, or production painter, preferably with plastic substrates Proficiency in operating and maintaining HVLP spray equipment Solid understanding of paint mixing, color matching, and surface preparation techniques Ability to read and understand technical specifications, work orders, and safety guidelines Must be able to wear a respirator and other required
