$19.60-$24.16 DOE/DOQ + Health & Welfare benefits ($5.09/hour)SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Lillie Rice Center Director of Operations, the Grounds Laborer will be responsible for maintaining landscapes, prune trees or shrubs, and do other tasks to ensure that vegetation is attractive, orderly, and safe.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in tree care and maintenance, including tree and shrub trimming and pruning. Follow safety protocols while climbing ladders and performing aerial work. Assists in meeting daily maintenance requirements Assists in the preparation and/or clean-up of work area Ensures that contract work is performed efficiently and in accordance to the established quality standards Observes and complies with employee confidentiality policies. Observes and complies with safety programs and procedures. May drive mobile grounds equipment to transport employees to various work sites May be assigned to one-on-one services for employees with disabilities that require more intensive services Other duties as deemed appropriate to the position.QUALIFICATIONS

Have a good knowledge of the working limits and capabilities of groundskeeping equipment. Required to have constant mental alertness and skill to operate equipment in all areas of facility grounds including small irregular shaped areas, among groups of trees or on steep slopes without damaging the equipment, shrubs, trees, sprinklers, and other obstacles Works from general oral or written instructions and is expected to proceed some supervision. Spot checks will be made by the supervisor for general adequacy. Must be constantly alert for unsafe conditions and avoid, correct, or report these to the proper personnel. Must be able to pass a criminal background check and if randomly selected a drug and alcohol screening per policy.LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, write, communicate and/or follow written and verbal instructions in English. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals.EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High school diploma/GED.Preferred Qualifications:
One (1) year work experience in competitive industry or related field of work, arborist experience is a plusPHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

Occasional straight pulling, pulling hand-over-hand. Lifting, carrying, pulling, pushing and handling of heavy and cumbersome loads weighing 25-50 lbs. Duties may require working in cramped and awkward positions Frequent excessive heat (>80 degrees F); occasional excessive cold ( <32 degrees F) and frequent excessive humidity (>50%).
