Make the most of Wisconsin's beautiful fall by working outdoors with the City of West Allis Department of Public Works! We're hiring Temporary Seasonal Laborers for full-time positions through October-Early November, weather permitting. Whether you're building your résumé, expanding your skills, or just love working outside, we have opportunities for you. Why join us?

  • Open to anyone 18 years or older with a valid Wisconsin driver's license.
No Experience Needed. Available Positions
FACILITIES
  • Starting at $16/hour Mon-Fri 7am-3pm OR Wed-Sun 7am-3pm
  • Sign data collection to include setup and takedown of mobile signs
  • Park attendant and janitorial duties
FORESTRY
  • Starting at $16/hour Mon-Fri 7am-3pm
  • Mowing, trimming, edging, weeding
  • Tilling and maintaining landscape beds and paths
  • Miscellaneous outdoor maintenance
  • May assist other divisions during inclement weather Minimum Requirements
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Valid Wisconsin driver's license with a driving record that meets City standards:
  • No more than 2 moving violations in the last 18 months
  • No more than 3 moving violations in the last 36 months
  • No more than 1 chargeable accident in the last 18 months or 2 in the last 36 months
  • No more than 6 demerit points in the last 12 months
  • No OWI or reckless driving convictions in the past 5 years Physical Requirements Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods, including:
  • Operating mowing equipment
  • Continuous lifting up to 20 lbs.; occasional lifting up to 100 lbs. with assistance
  • Frequent walking, bending, kneeling, squatting, twisting, and entering/exiting vehicles
  • Working in outdoor conditions, including heat, cold, rain, dust, odors, noise, and traffic
