Job Description
Position Information:
The Village of Barboursville is looking to hire a Laborer to perform both light and heavy manual tasks in a wide variety of maintenance work.Position Responsibilities:
- Performs maintenance related tasks (e.g. picking up trash and debris, cutting grass, building and equipment repair, etc.)
- Cleans up worksites from hazardous or obsolete material
- Handles and transport materials (e.g. cement) and equipment (e.g. drills and grinders)
- Inspects and fuels vehicles prior to beginning shift
- Follows instructions from supervisors
- Puts up warning signs (e.g. signposts, cones) for vehicles and passersby
- Reports issues with equipment or unsafe conditions
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Applicants must pass a drug-screening and background check before start of employment.Education & Experience:
Applicants must provide a current resume with references.Requirements & Skills:
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (standing for long periods of time, lifting heavy loads of 50-75 pounds, etc.)
- Willing to work long periods including evenings and weekends when necessary
- Ability to follow instructions
- Communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to safety rules
