$24/hr W2 Job Summary Performs manual duties in power plants to maintain cleanliness and the neat appearance of the facility. The Laborer will perform general housekeeping, area cleanup, maintenance support, environmental and safety checks, grounds maintenance, and other duties as assigned. Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities1. General Housekeeping /
Area Cleanup CPS Building:
Clean floors, wash off equipment, and perform visual operational checks.
FGD:
Clean floors, wash off equipment, and perform visual operational checks. Units 1 & 2: Conduct visual housekeeping inspections and equipment checks; sweep and clean burner decks and surrounding areas.
Turbine Work:
Sweep floors, clean dust from generators, and empty trash cans. May perform janitorial duties, including cleaning restrooms, locker rooms, break rooms, service buildings, control rooms, guard shacks, and other areas. 2. Dust /
Spill Management Gypsum:
Sweep and shovel spill areas.
E-Crane:
Clean deck areas around the crane.
Coal:
Shovel coal back onto belt lines and sweep up residual dust. 3. General Plant Support Dump dumpsters. Fill kerosene heaters. Perform snow and ice removal from doorways and walkways; apply salt as needed. Assist with unloading fuel trucks by providing visual support to the driver. The driver performs the work of hooking and unhooking hoses. Assist during wet coal situations. 4. Preventive Maintenance (PMs) Walk belt lines. Perform conveyor greasing. 5. Tool Room Management Track tool inventory. Scan tools in and out. Perform rigging checks. 6. Environmental & Safety Activities Replace drain pig mats for environmental safety. Perform monthly fire extinguisher checks. Perform post indicator valve checks. Conduct fire hose testing. Flip hoses on reels. 7. Grounds Maintenance Push mow grass. Perform weed eating. 8. Painting & Facility Maintenance Paint handrails. Paint equipment. Paint lines. Change light bulbs. Patch holes in roadways. Address small plumbing issues. Education & Experience High School Diploma or GED. Less than one year of experience required. Additional Requirements Must be willing to work rotating shifts. Must respond to callouts during both outage and non-outage work to maintain and support business operational needs and schedules. Must be able to learn and comply with all applicable plant operating instructions and procedures. Must be able to learn and comply with rules, safety practices, and procedures applicable to the work environment. Must report unsafe conditions and practices. Must learn and maintain a working knowledge of Safety and Environmental guidelines. Must be able to learn and properly use tools and equipment applicable to assigned duties. Must be able to read and comprehend written instructions and manuals. Must communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Must demonstrate professional conduct and effective interactions with employees, contractors, and others.
