MS Companies is partnering with a well-established manufacturing organization to identify a Production Planner for a critical direct-hire opportunity in the Greater Birmingham, Alabama area. This position plays a vital role in ensuring production schedules, materials, and manufacturing resources align with customer demand and delivery commitments. The ideal candidate will bring experience planning production within a manufacturing environment, strong SAP knowledge, and the ability to collaborate effectively across operations, purchasing, scheduling, and customer service teams. This is not a logistics, transportation, or route-planning position. The focus is manufacturing production planning, scheduling, inventory coordination, and supporting efficient shop floor operations. Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of production planning experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum 3 years of SAP experience related to production planning, scheduling, or manufacturing operations
  • Experience developing and maintaining production schedules to support customer demand
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions
  • Experience working cross-functionally with production, purchasing, inventory, and customer service teams
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Excel
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management abilities
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship Preferred Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience supporting high-volume manufacturing operations
  • Experience reporting to a Master Scheduler, Planning Manager, or Operations leadership team
  • Exposure to inventory planning and material requirements planning (MRP)
  • Experience expediting materials and managing supplier-related production constraints
  • Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement exposure
  • Experience prioritizing production work centers and shop floor dispatching
  • ERP experience beyond SAP
  • Manufacturing scheduling experience supporting multiple product lines Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain production schedules to meet customer demand and manufacturing deadlines
  • Coordinate with production, purchasing, logistics, and inventory teams to ensure material availability
  • Analyze and adjust production schedules based on changing priorities, equipment constraints, and raw material availability
  • Work with purchasing teams to expedite materials when necessary
  • Prioritize work centers and shop floor production activities to support on-time delivery
  • Communicate schedule changes, delays, and production risks to operations leadership
  • Manage production-related parts orders and inventory requirements
  • Partner with customer service teams regarding shipment schedules and customer commitments
  • Provide production updates and planning support to the Master Scheduler
  • Participate in team meetings and continuous improvement initiatives Physical & Work Environment
  • Primarily office-based within a manufacturing facility
  • Frequent interaction with production, warehouse, and operations personnel
  • Ability to walk the manufacturing floor as needed
  • Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods
