Job Description

Position Summary The Routing & Logistics Coordinator is responsible for optimizing freight routes, scheduling carrier movement, and synchronizing internal operations with external transportation partners. This role ensures seamless, cost-effective, and 100% on-time deliveries across California and regional distribution networks while maintaining strict adherence to California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities Carrier Coordination & Scheduling:
Primary point of contact for third-party logistics (3PL) providers, freight brokers, and dedicated fleets to book, tender, and track shipments.
Internal Team Alignment:
Collaborate daily with warehouse staging, inventory management, customer service, and procurement teams to align loading dock schedules with driver ETAs.
Route Optimization & Dispatching:
Utilize Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and GPS tracking to build fuel-efficient delivery routes, account for California traffic corridors, and re-route around port or highway delays.
Delivery Performance Tracking:
Monitor real-time status of active shipments, proactively resolve transit disruptions, and enforce Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for On-Time, In-Full (OTIF) delivery.
Compliance & Documentation:
Review Bills of Lading (BOL), Proof of Delivery (POD), carrier insurance certificates, and ensure adherence to California Air Resources Board (CARB) standards and driver Hours of Service (HOS) rules.
Exception Management:
Expedite urgent shipments, process claims for damaged or missing freight, and communicate schedule adjustments immediately to impacted stakeholders.
Qualifications & Requirements Experience:
2-4 years of operational logistics, freight dispatching, or supply chain coordination experience.
Education:
Associate or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or equivalent hands-on industry experience.
Software Proficiency:
Hands-on experience with TMS platforms (e.g., MercuryGate, Oracle
TMS, SAP
), ERP systems, route planning tools, and advanced Excel.
California Regulatory Knowledge:
Familiarity with Caltrans freight regulations, CARB compliance standards, and port/intermodal operations (Ports of LA/Long Beach/Oakland).
Key Skills:
High-stress problem-solving, clear communication, spatial planning, and sharp attention to details.
Pay Rate:
$25.00 / hour
Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00
PM Pay:
From $25.00 per hour
