POSITION OVERVIEW

This is an impactful, newly created position designed for an organized, proactive manufacturing professional who wants to take full ownership and build efficient production planning workflows from the ground up. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Production Planner will serve as a foundational link between strategic leadership and shop floor execution. In this role, you will be instrumental in supporting the rollout of our new ERP system—Counterpart ERP—and will subsequently manage the platform's day-to-day operations, scheduling modules, and master inventory data. You will establish reliable lead-time tracking, oversee accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs), balance machine loads across our CNC facility, and package complete, production-ready job orders for direct handoff to the Production Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

ERP Implementation Support & Maintenance:

Serve as a core contributor during the Counterpart ERP system implementation; assist with master data configuration, work center routing setup, testing, and process documentation. Post-launch, take full day-to-day ownership of maintaining planning integrity, schedule parameters, and item master data.

Production Scheduling & Capacity Planning:

Develop, monitor, and adjust daily and weekly production schedules across CNC milling, CNC turning, and secondary operations. Align machine capacities and labor resources to achieve on-time delivery targets while minimizing shop downtime.

BOM & Routing Management:

Create, audit, and maintain complete, multi-level Bills of Materials (BOMs), operational routings, standard cycle times, and outside processing specifications within Counterpart ERP.

Inventory Control & Lead Time Tracking:

Continuously track raw materials (bar stock, specialty alloys, sheet), hardware, shop tooling, and finished goods inventory. Monitor supplier lead times, establish minimum safety stocks, and set automated reorder points to prevent material shortages.

Production Handoff & Job Traveler Release:

Assemble and release complete, fully verified production packages—including work orders, travelers, technical blueprints, material certifications, and routing instructions—for seamless handoff to the Production Manager and machining team.

WIP Monitoring & Bottleneck Resolution:

Track work-in-process (WIP) through each manufacturing phase. Proactively identify shop floor constraints, setup delays, or material shortages, partnering with the Production Manager to resolve issues and maintain steady throughput.

Cross-Functional Coordination & Reporting:

Maintain open communication with the CEO, sales, customer service, and procurement regarding order milestones, lead times, capacity availability, and expedited jobs.

QUALIFICATIONS & TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

•

Manufacturing Experience:

3+ years of production planning, scheduling, or inventory control experience in a precision CNC machining facility, job shop, or make-to-order manufacturing environment.

•

ERP/MRP Systems:

Demonstrated experience working hands-on with modern manufacturing ERP platforms (e.g., Counterpart, JobBOSS, E2, Epicor, Global Shop Solutions, or similar). Active participation in an ERP implementation or migration is strongly preferred.

•

Blueprint & Technical Literacy:

Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, technical blueprints, and geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T); solid understanding of CNC milling, turning, and metal fabrication workflows.

Materials & BOM Expertise:

Proven track record managing multi-level BOMs, item masters, raw material procurement lead times, and inventory replenishment controls.

Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills:

High proficiency with Microsoft Excel (data lookups, pivot tables, scheduling models) and modern manufacturing scheduling software.

Autonomous Drive:

Self-starter initiative with the enthusiasm to establish standard operating procedures (SOPs), organize workflows, and thrive in an expanding, fast-paced business.

$75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
