Job Description
Keep Production Moving. Solve Problems. Make an Impact. If you enjoy being where the action is, solving problems in real time, and working across teams to keep production on track, this could be a great fit. We are looking for a Shop Floor Planner who will serve as the connection between the production schedule and what is actually happening on the manufacturing floor. This is not a desk-only planning role . You get to spend time on the shop floor, communicate directly with production teams, track jobs through manufacturing, identify potential delays, and help coordinate the people and resources needed to keep work moving. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment , and confident following up with multiple departments to drive priorities through completion. What You'll Do Monitor jobs, work orders, and travelers throughout the manufacturing process and identify work that is delayed or at risk of falling behind schedule. Work directly with shop floor personnel to understand real-time production status, constraints, and priorities. Coordinate the sequencing and movement of priority work across machining operations and supporting departments. Partner with Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Purchasing, Supply Chain, Outside Processing, and Production to resolve issues affecting job progression. Help ensure completed work moves quickly and accurately to the next required operation or department. Follow up with action owners and keep production-related priorities moving toward completion. Participate in daily production meetings and provide clear updates on job status, bottlenecks, risks, and priorities. Physically verify jobs, materials, and production status on the shop floor when needed. Communicate changes or concerns that could impact the production schedule to Manufacturing Planning and Production Management. Support continuous improvement efforts focused on production flow, lead-time reduction, capacity utilization, schedule adherence, and on-time delivery. Assist with other Supply Chain and production coordination needs as assigned. What We're Looking For 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. Experience in precision machining, CNC manufacturing, aerospace, defense, medical manufacturing, or another complex production environment is strongly preferred. Familiarity with manufacturing travelers, routers, work orders, and production documentation. Experience using an ERP or manufacturing planning system . Strong computer skills and the ability to quickly learn new systems. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving production environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Confidence working with employees across production, engineering, quality, purchasing, and leadership. Strong follow-through and the ability to hold others accountable for assigned actions and deadlines. Excellent attention to detail, organization, and sense of urgency. You'll Be Successful in This Role If You… Like being hands-on and involved with day-to-day production , rather than managing everything from behind a desk. Naturally notice when something is falling behind and take action before it becomes a larger problem. Are comfortable asking questions, following up, and communicating across multiple departments. Can balance changing priorities without losing sight of the production schedule. Enjoy solving problems and helping different teams work together. Take ownership of your responsibilities and follow through until the job is complete. Why This Role Matters Manufacturing plans only work when production can execute them. As the Shop Floor Planner, you will have direct visibility into what is happening across the operation and play an important role in helping the team meet production goals and deliver quality products on time. If you are looking for a role where you can be close to the manufacturing process, build relationships across the organization, and directly influence production performance, we encourage you to apply.
