Position Summary
Orchid Island Aviation Inc. (DBA Direct Airways) is seeking a detail-oriented, customer-focused Flight Coordinator to join our operations team. In this role, you will serve as a central hub for our Part 135 charter operations, working closely with flight crews, maintenance personnel, and management to ensure safe, efficient, and seamless trip execution.
Key Responsibilities
Trip Planning & Scheduling:
Manage day-to-day flight scheduling, aircraft routing, and crew assignments in compliance with FAA Part 135 regulations and company policies.
Logistics & Support:
Coordinate comprehensive trip logistics, including FBO arrangements, ground transportation, permits, catering, and hotel accommodations for flight crews.
Operational Monitoring:
Track active flights, monitor weather patterns, and manage schedule modifications or delays proactively.
Communication Link:
Act as the primary point of contact between passengers, clients, flight crews, and internal departments to ensure high standards of customer service and safety.
Compliance & Recordkeeping:
Maintain accurate flight logs, trip sheets, crew duty records, and operational documentation in accordance with company manuals.
Requirements
Qualifications & Skills
Previous experience in aviation dispatch, flight coordination, or FBO customer service (Part 135 experience preferred).
Strong working knowledge of aviation weather, flight planning tools, and basic routing.
Exceptional communication, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills under fast-paced, dynamic conditions.
High attention to detail and a commitment to uncompromising safety standards.
Flexibility to support rotating schedules, weekends, or on-call duties as required by flight operations.
