Schedule/Hours:

Monday - Saturday (40 hours per week) This position is responsible for: Assists in picking-up donations by riding in a Salvation Army truck and lifting, carrying, and/or hauling donations into the truck and unloading the same at the warehouse/store; assists in navigating for the Truck Driver; ensures the accountability, security, and safety of the donations when in route; assists in maintaining the vehicle in proper working order and in compliance with established standards. Assists store customers in donating, selecting, and purchasing store items; operates and maintains a cash register; responds to customer's questions; maintains the cleanliness and orderliness of the store displays; ensures the security of store items and the cash register.

Key Responsibilities:

Rides in a Salvation Army truck on a scheduled route in order to pick-up donated items; assists in navigating driver to destinations by reading a map and/or hand-written directions. Lifts, carries, and/or hauls donations into truck; packs items in truck in a manner that maximizes use of space, protects items from damage, and ensures safety. Places and arranges items in the store as directed; checks all store displays to ensure that items are maintained and displayed in a neat and orderly manner; rotates and/or rearranges stock as directed; returns items to the proper location after customer's have handled. Maintains the neatness and security of the cash register area; ensures that forms, bags, etc. are adequately stocked.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving the lifting and carrying of heavy objects. Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing. Work requires riding in a vehicle daily with exposure to the outdoors where there are physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.

G.E.D. AND

six months experience lifting and hauling heavy items such as appliances and furniture, with 1 year experience working in a retail store and six months working on a cash register OR Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Licenses and Certifications:

Valid State Driver's License may be required.
