Position Overview The Inventory Planner ensures seamless flow of raw materials, intermediate goods, and finished products through forecasting, stock management, and coordination with production, purchasing, and logistics teams to meet demand while optimizing costs. Key Responsibilities Demand Forecasting & Planning Analyze sales forecasts, historical data, and market trends to predict material usage and finished goods demand. Collaborate with Sales, Planning and/or Scheduling teams to reconcile forecasts with production schedules. Raw Material & MRP Coordination Estimate requirements for yarns, fabrics, dyes, and other raw inputs based on production orders and BOMs. Use MRP systems (ERP/MIS) to generate production orders, monitor material lead times, and trigger replenishment. Inventory Management & Control Regularly review inventory levels, maintaining optimal safety stock to avoid shortages and excess. Coordinate cycle counts and annual inventory audits; investigate discrepancies and recommend corrective action. Production Scheduling & Coordination Monitor and adjust daily/weekly production schedules to meet delivery targets. Liaise between production planning, procurement, warehousing, and shipping teams to track order status and inventory flow. Performance Monitoring & Reporting Maintain KPI dashboards: stock turnover, fill rate, days on hand, stockouts. Prepare management reports and suggest improvements to optimize inventory investments. Process Improvement & Compliance Support identification of production bottlenecks, supply chain disruptions, or material delays. Support implementation of lean manufacturing, JIT methods, and standardized SOPs. Required Skills & Competencies Technical & Analytical Proficiency Strong Excel and ERP/MRP expertise; familiar with textile ERP systems and capacity planning tools. Able to use BI tools/data analytics to transform forecasts into inventory insights. Detail-Oriented & Problem-Solving Accuracy in managing BOMs, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods records. Analytical frame of mind to identify trends and solve inventory variances. Cross-Functional Communication Proactive coordination with procurement, manufacturing, quality, and customer service teams. Capable of aligning inventory plans with sales, promotions, and production cycles. Organizational & Time Management Excellent at handling multiple SKUs, prioritizing critical POs, and meeting tight timelines. Maintains robust documentation and compliance with audit standards. Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Textile Manufacturing, Business Administration, or related field. 2-5 years of supply chain, inventory planning, or production planning experience in textile or apparel sector preferred. Certifications (Advantageous)
APICS CPIM
/ CSCP or equivalent certification in inventory or production management.
