at Robert Half in Hazel Crest, Illinois, United States Job Description Description We are looking for a Logistics Coordinator to support day-to-day transportation and shipping activities for a machinery manufacturing operation in Hazel Crest, Illinois. This Long-term Contract opportunity is ideal for someone who is organized, responsive, and comfortable managing shipment details in a fast-paced onsite environment. The person in this role will help coordinate freight movement, maintain accurate records, and ensure timely follow-up across inbound and outbound logistics.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate domestic and international shipments by arranging transportation, preparing shipment details, and confirming scheduling needs.
- Monitor freight activity from pickup through delivery, providing updates and addressing delays to keep materials and products moving on time.
- Apply accurate general ledger coding to shipping-related transactions and maintain organized logistics documentation.
- Expedite urgent orders by working closely with carriers, internal teams, and external partners to resolve transportation issues quickly.
- Support inbound and outbound shipping operations, including customer shipments and routine distribution activities.
- Communicate shipment status, exceptions, and delivery concerns clearly while ensuring consistent follow-up on open items.
- Enter and update logistics information in company systems and adapt quickly to new tools or processes as needed. The salary range for this position is $20
- $21/hr.
- Prior experience in logistics, transportation coordination, shipping support, or a related administrative role.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and Excel for communication, tracking, and recordkeeping.
- Ability to learn new systems efficiently and use them accurately in daily work.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a dependable follow-up approach.
- Working knowledge of inbound, outbound, and customer shipment coordination.
- High attention to detail when handling shipment records, coding, and status updates.
- Experience supporting distribution, freight tracking, or customs-related logistics activities is a plus.
