Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Gate Clerk to join our dynamic logistics team. In this vital role, you will be the first point of contact for inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring smooth and efficient access control at the facility's gate. Your responsibilities will include managing shipping and receiving processes, verifying documentation, and supporting overall warehouse operations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a fast-paced distribution environment while honing your skills in logistics, inventory management, and customer service. Duties Control access to the warehouse by verifying shipment documentation and authorizations for all inbound and outbound vehicles, visitors, and contractors Use warehouse management systems (WMS) and ERP systems such as AS400 to log shipments, update inventory records, and track movement of goods Assist with shipping logistics, including scheduling pickups, coordinating deliveries, and ensuring compliance with international trade regulations when applicable Operate equipment such as pallet jacks, reach trucks, and RF scanners to load, unload, stock, and pick orders efficiently Support order fulfillment activities by accurately picking, packing, and preparing shipments for dispatch using order picker tools and inventory management software Maintain accurate records through data entry tasks related to shipping & receiving logs, inventory updates, and compliance documentation Provide excellent customer service by addressing carrier inquiries professionally and assisting internal teams with warehouse operations Qualifications Proven experience in warehouse operations or distribution centers with familiarity in shipping & receiving procedures Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS), inventory management software, and ERP systems like AS400 or similar platforms Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for reporting and documentation purposes Ability to perform basic math calculations accurately for inventory counts and order processing Valid certification or experience operating forklifts, reach trucks, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment such as MRPs (Material Requirements Planning systems) Experience with order picking & packing processes using RF scanners or similar technology Knowledge of trade compliance standards and international trade regulations when handling cross-border shipments Excellent communication skills with a focus on customer service excellence Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail Join our team as a Gate Clerk if you thrive in a lively environment where your organizational skills make a real impact!
