Job Description
Logistics Specialist Vernon Hills, IL (On-site) We are seeking a detail-oriented Logistics Specialist to join our food manufacturing team. This role is responsible for coordinating domestic and international shipments, managing transportation activities, maintaining inventory accuracy, and ensuring timely deliveries while supporting a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Coordinate inbound overseas containers and domestic shipments (LTL, FTL, and flatbed). Schedule shipments with carriers and ensure on-time deliveries across the U.S. Prepare Bills of Lading, packing slips, and shipping documentation. Communicate with warehouse, production, planning, and customer service teams regarding inventory, transfers, and shipping schedules. Maintain relationships with freight carriers and negotiate transportation rates. Review freight invoices, customs documentation, and shipping records for accuracy. Manage transportation data and carrier information in SAP. Resolve transportation and delivery issues while maintaining excellent customer service. Monitor inventory levels and support continuous improvement in logistics operations. Qualifications 2+ years of experience in logistics, transportation, freight brokerage, or supply chain. Experience coordinating domestic and international shipments. SAP or ERP experience preferred. Strong negotiation, communication, and organizational skills. High attention to detail with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Experience in food manufacturing or regulated environments (USDA/FDA) is a plus.
