This position is responsible for working directly with customers to determine electrical service needs and designing electric distribution projects involving the installation, replacement, relocation, or removal of distribution facilities.
Projects will support new residential and commercial development, customer service requests, system reliability initiatives, and infrastructure improvements. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in electric utility distribution design and field construction practices, with knowledge of overhead and underground distribution systems. Experience with GDT/GIS, drafting, construction, structural analysis, or field leadership is highly desirable. Key ResponsibilitiesManage multiple electric distribution projects supporting new residential and commercial customers.
Meet directly with customers to determine electrical service requirements and project needs.
Design overhead and underground electric distribution line extensions.
Develop designs for the installation, replacement, relocation, and removal of electric distribution facilities.
Prepare project estimates, construction drawings, and supporting design documentation.
Coordinate construction commitments, schedules, and project requirements.
Coordinate and lead pre-design and pre-construction meetings with internal teams, customers, contractors, and other stakeholders.
Perform engineering and design calculations supporting planning and corrective-action projects.
Complete calculations and analysis involving:
Load studiesVoltage dropFault currentRevenue justificationDistribution system requirementsApply established electric utility distribution design standards and field practices.
Provide technical support and guidance to local operations personnel.
Support contractor compliance with distribution design standards and construction practices.
Coordinate with construction and field personnel to help ensure projects are completed accurately and efficiently.
Assist Right-of-Way personnel with obtaining permits, easements, and other ROW documentation.
Maintain accurate project drawings, estimates, records, and supporting documentation.
Provide responsive service to customers and internal and external project stakeholders.
Required QualificationsAssociate degree, bachelor's degree, or technical diploma in a related technical field.
Approximately 4-7+ years of relevant experience in electric utility distribution design, electric distribution construction, or a closely related field.
Strong knowledge of utility distribution design and field construction practices.
Understanding of overhead and/or underground electric distribution systems.
Ability to read, interpret, and prepare technical drawings and construction documentation.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
Strong organizational, communication, and customer-service skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with customers, construction personnel, contractors, engineers, operations teams, and other stakeholders.
Ability to work onsite Monday through Friday.
