Job Description
Jack's Oil / Best Oil Company is seeking a Assistant Operations Manager to coordinate the safe, compliant, and efficient transportation and distribution of fuel and propane products. This role is critical in ensuring timely deliveries, optimizing fleet operations, maintaining regulatory compliance, and managing inventory across our network. Familiarity with local roads and delivery areas preferred. This is a salaried position with regular hours of 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM . Key Responsibilities Schedule and dispatch fuel and propane deliveries to residential, commercial, and industrial customers Coordinate daily routing of transport trucks and bobtails to maximize efficiency and meet delivery windows Monitor inventory levels at bulk plants, storage tanks, and customer locations to prevent runouts Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, hazmat handling requirements, and company safety policies Prepare and maintain documentation (bills of lading, delivery tickets, regulatory reports) Communicate with drivers, plant operators, and sales teams regarding delivery status and priorities Track shipments and respond to delays, weather issues, or equipment challenges Optimize routes and loads to improve efficiency and reduce operating costs Support seasonal demand planning, including winter peak demand Maintain accurate transportation, delivery, and inventory records Coordinate fleet maintenance scheduling and vehicle availability Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field preferred 2+ years of logistics, dispatch, or transportation experience (fuel, propane, or hazardous materials preferred) Working knowledge of DOT regulations and hazardous materials safety practices Experience using dispatch software, routing systems, or ERP platforms Familiarity with local roads and delivery areas Strong organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment Excellent communication skills Preferred Qualifications Experience in fuel, propane, or petroleum distribution Familiarity with tank monitoring systems and degree-day forecasting Knowledge of hazmat certification or compliance programs Experience with fleet management or transportation scheduling tools Key Skills Safety and regulatory awareness Route planning and optimization Inventory tracking and forecasting Problem-solving under time-sensitive conditions Strong attention to detail Team communication and coordination Work Environment Primarily office-based with regular coordination with field operations Fast-paced, safety-critical work environment tied to delivery schedules May require early mornings, weekends, or on-call availability during peak seasons or emergencies Benefits Jack's Oil / Best Oil offers a comprehensive benefits package: Health, Dental, Life, LTD, and AD&D Insurance Eligibility begins the first of the month following 30 days of employment Health Savings Account (HSA) available Paid Time Off (PTO) Paid Holidays 401(k)
