Job Title:
Material Specialist (STEEL)
Location:
GULFPORT, MS
Position Overview The Material Specialist is responsible for utilizing software tools to determine the materials required for job assignments, locating those materials, and coordinating their transportation to the work area. This role involves working closely with warehouse personnel to ensure material availability, addressing backorders, and maintaining accurate documentation for material receipt and movement. Typical Duties and Responsibilities The following outlines the general nature of the role but is not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities: Verify the materials and quantities needed for job completion. Collaborate with warehouse personnel to determine material availability or identify backordered items. Coordinate the transportation of available materials to job sites. Track and follow up on backordered materials to ensure timely availability. Maintain accurate documentation related to the receipt, movement, and placement of materials. Perform Inventories / Cycle Counts / Audits, as well as conduct reconciliations. Follow all Safety guidelines. Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong communication skills. Basic knowledge of blueprints, schematics, and shipyard terminology. Ability to work effectively with warehouse personnel and other team members. Prior shipbuilding experience is a plus.
REQUIRED
Experience & Training 5 years' experience in Material Operations in one or more of the following areas, Warehouse / Inventory / Raw Material / Storeroom. Previous experience in shipbuilding, particularly in engineering or craft-related fields.
