Production Planner Position Summary The Production Planner is responsible for developing, maintaining, and executing realistic production plans that support customer delivery commitments, production requirements, and established manufacturing targets. This role translates demand into actionable production schedules by balancing material availability, capacity, production constraints, and workflow requirements. The Production Planner works closely with Materials, Production Control, Engineering, Quality, Procurement, and Manufacturing to ensure production plans are achievable, accurately maintained, and continuously adjusted to address changing requirements and constraints. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Develop and maintain production schedules that support customer delivery commitments and production requirements. Review and analyze demand against available capacity, material availability, production constraints, and manufacturing workflow. Create, release, and align work orders to support production requirements and delivery commitments. Perform capacity analysis to identify constraints, bottlenecks, resource limitations, and potential schedule risks. Maintain accurate planning parameters within MRP/ERP systems to ensure effective production planning. Monitor material availability and coordinate with Materials and Procurement to address shortages or potential disruptions. Support inventory management and inventory reduction initiatives while maintaining appropriate material availability. Work closely with Production Control to maintain accurate work-center schedules and ensure production priorities are clearly communicated. Participate in weekly and monthly production planning meetings to review demand, production schedules, capacity, constraints, material availability, and delivery requirements. Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Production Control, Procurement, Manufacturing, and other cross-functional teams to identify and resolve issues affecting the production plan. Monitor schedule performance, identify variances and risks, and implement corrective actions as needed. Continuously update production plans based on changes in demand, capacity, material availability, and manufacturing priorities. Maintain accurate planning and scheduling data within the ERP/MRP system. Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, or a related field; or 5+ years of experience in production planning, scheduling, materials planning, or a related role within a complex manufacturing environment. Experience working with multi-level Bills of Materials (BOMs) preferred.
