$23.00-$27.00 per hour, depending on experience Position Summary DFX is seeking a dependable, organized, and hands-on Warehouse Operations & Logistics Specialist to manage the day-to-day movement, organization, and tracking of equipment and materials within our warehouses. This position is responsible for receiving incoming shipments, processing packing slips and receiving documentation, allocating inventory to projects, maintaining organized warehouse inventory, and preparing equipment and materials for shipment to installation project sites. The Warehouse Operations & Logistics Specialist will work closely with Project Managers and Purchasing to ensure materials are received, properly accounted for, staged, packed, and shipped according to project schedules. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work independently while adapting to the changing needs of active projects. Key Responsibilities Shipping & Receiving Receive and inspect incoming packages, freight, equipment, and materials. Verify incoming shipments against packing slips, purchase orders, and other receiving documentation. Process packing slips and maintain accurate receiving records. Identify and report damaged, missing, incorrect, or backordered materials. Properly label, store, and organize received inventory. Coordinate with Project Managers regarding materials received for upcoming and active projects. Prepare, package, palletize, and secure equipment and materials for freight shipments. Construct custom wooden shipping crates, protective packaging, and other shipping solutions for larger, fragile, or unusually shaped equipment as needed. Safely use basic hand and power tools for crate construction and shipping preparation. Ensure equipment is properly protected and secured for transport. Ensure shipments are properly labeled and documented before leaving the facility. Obtain freight quotes and compare shipping options based on cost, timing, and project requirements. Schedule freight pickups and coordinate shipment timing with Project Managers. Track outgoing freight shipments and communicate relevant shipping information to project teams. Inventory & Warehouse Management Allocate received equipment and materials to the appropriate installation projects. Maintain accurate organization and identification of inventory throughout DFX warehouse areas. Maintain designated project staging and storage areas. Assist with tracking inventory quantities and availability. Monitor commonly stocked materials and notify Purchasing when inventory levels are low or replenishment is required. Help identify inventory discrepancies and assist with physical inventory counts as needed. Ensure equipment and materials are stored safely and efficiently. Maintain clean, orderly, and professional warehouse spaces. Keep aisles, loading areas, workspaces, and emergency access points clear. Continually improve warehouse organization and storage practices where appropriate. Project Coordination Work closely with Project Managers to understand project material requirements and shipping deadlines. Stage and organize equipment and materials for upcoming installation projects. Coordinate the timing of project shipments based on installation schedules. Communicate material shortages, shipping delays, damaged equipment, or other issues that could affect project schedules. Assist Project Managers in confirming that required materials are available before projects are shipped or deployed. Maintain clear identification and separation of materials allocated to individual projects. Qualifications & Requirements Previous experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse operations, inventory management, logistics, or a similar position preferred. Experience with D-Tools preferred, but not required. Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a valid USDOT Medical Examiner's Certificate (DOT medical card). Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain forklift certification. Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Comfortable working at heights and using ladders or warehouse access equipment when necessary. Ability to safely load, unload, move, palletize, and secure equipment and materials. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Basic computer skills and ability to work with inventory, shipping, and project documentation. Ability to obtain and evaluate freight shipping quotes. Ability to communicate effectively with Project Managers, Purchasing, vendors, freight carriers, and other employees. Ability to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Dependable, punctual, and capable of working with limited supervision. Must be flexible and able to adjust priorities as project schedules and operational needs change. Preferred Skills Basic carpentry or woodworking experience. Experience constructing wooden shipping crates, pallets, or protective packaging. Comfortable using common hand and power tools, including drills, impact drivers, circular saws, reciprocating saws, and similar equipment. Experience preparing commercial freight or LTL shipments. Experience working with AV, electronics, construction, integration, or other technical equipment is a plus. Physical Requirements This is an active warehouse position. The employee must be able to regularly stand, walk, bend, reach, climb, and move throughout warehouse and loading areas. The position requires the ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds and to safely work from ladders or at elevated heights when necessary. The employee must also be capable of safely operating appropriate warehouse equipment and using common hand and power tools associated with packaging and custom crate construction. Schedule This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position. The normal schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM. While this position generally follows a consistent weekday schedule, flexibility may occasionally be required to accommodate project deadlines, incoming or outgoing freight, or other operational needs. Working Relationships The Warehouse Operations & Logistics Specialist reports directly to the Director of Project Management and works closely with Project Managers, Purchasing, installation technicians, vendors, freight carriers, and other DFX personnel. What Success Looks Like Success in this position means that incoming materials are received and documented accurately, inventory can be easily located, project materials are properly allocated and organized, equipment is appropriately packaged and protected, shipments leave complete and on schedule, and the warehouses remain clean, safe, and orderly. The ideal person for this role takes ownership of the warehouse and shipping process, notices problems before they affect a project, and communicates proactively with the appropriate team members.
