Job Description
We are seeking a Procurement and Logistics Assistant (PLA) to provide support to the Procurement Team, assisting in the coordination of deliveries for solar projects in the State of NY. The position is based in our office in Kirkwood. Position Summary Highly organized, proactive, and resourceful Procurement & Logistics Assistant to support construction operations in the Kirkwood, NY area. The ideal candidate is someone who takes initiative, follows through open items, communicates effectively with vendors and field personnel, and is comfortable solving day-to-day problems independently. Previous experience in the construction industry is strongly preferred. Candidates should have enough familiarity with construction operations to understand common terminology related to construction equipment, electrical materials and tools, and construction drawings. Key Responsibilities Procurement & Purchasing Create and process purchase orders (POs). Track PO approvals and follow up as necessary. Communicate with vendors to confirm pricing, quantities, availability, and delivery dates. Assist with supplier setup, credit applications, and ongoing supplier management. Obtain and organize purchasing information and supporting documentation. Assist with purchasing construction materials, including but not limited to:
- Electrical materials
- Fencing materials
- Concrete
- Stone
- Erosion-control materials
- Other construction and project materials as required Logistics & Delivery Coordination Schedule material and equipment deliveries with vendors.
The ideal candidate will be:
Highly organized and detail-oriented. Dependable and consistent with follow-through. Resourceful and comfortable finding solutions. Able to take initiative and work independently. Comfortable working in a fast-paced construction environment where priorities may change. Capable of communicating professionally but persistently with vendors and subcontractors to negotiate cost/pricing. Able to anticipate upcoming material, equipment, and logistical needs. Willing to learn new materials, equipment, processes, and software. Preferred Additional Skills Construction or electrical construction experience. Procurement or purchasing experience. Logistics, warehouse, or inventory experience. Experience working with construction vendors and suppliers. Experience using Procore. Experience reviewing construction drawings or material lists. Spanish-language proficiency is beneficial but not required. Work Schedule & Location This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position based in the Kirkwood, New York area. The position supports active construction operations and requires regular coordination with project teams, vendors, suppliers, and warehouse personnel.Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree and experience at least 2 years in purchasing and logistic field.
- Experience with shipments and delivery.
- Experience with import good from overseas.
- Experience and/or knowledge with electrical materials and equipment distribution.
- Experience and/or knowledge in solar energy is highly valued.
- Well organized and methodic.
- Highly motivated, team player, quick learner, independent, detail and process-oriented.
- Procore software will be used in the daily tasks.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PPT).
