We are seeking a dependable, compassionate, and safety-focused Non-Medical Transportation Driver to join our team. This position provides non-medical transportation services for individuals served by Flat Rock Community Services, safely transporting them from one location to another for non-medical purposes using agency vehicles. This role is an important part of helping individuals stay connected to appointments, activities, outings, and community opportunities while ensuring they are treated with dignity, respect, and care. This position also provides Habilitation Specialist services to individuals in our adult program. Responsibilities The Non-Medical Transportation Driver will: Safely transport individuals using agency vehicles in accordance with applicable transportation rules and agency procedures. Complete daily vehicle inspection checks before and after vehicle use. Report vehicle concerns or maintenance needs to the supervisor in a timely manner. Maintain vehicle cleanliness and follow required disinfecting protocols. Accurately follow routes, maps, directions, and GPS systems to ensure individuals arrive safely and on time. Follow applicable Individual Service Plans or Individual Program Plans as required. Review and follow safety protocols, policies, and emergency procedures. Respond appropriately to emergencies or medical situations within the scope of training. Ensure vehicles are fueled and ready for use. Work collaboratively with Community Services staff and the Flat Rock Care Center Maintenance Department regarding vehicle needs. Assist with transporting vehicles for required inspections. Complete required documentation accurately and on time. Maintain required training and certifications, including DOT certification and PASS training. Maintain CPR, First Aid, and Medication Administration certifications. Work positively and supportively with team members. Provide direct support to individuals during activities and outings when assigned. Perform other related duties as assigned. Perform the functions of a Habilitation Specialist when not transporting.
Requirements Qualified candidates must have:
High school diploma or equivalent. Must be at least 18 years of age. Valid Ohio driver's license and acceptable driving record. Minimum of 3 years of prior driving experience. Ability to communicate effectively with individuals served, coworkers, and supervisors. Ability to complete basic written reports. Basic math skills. Sound judgment and the ability to ensure the health and safety of individuals served. Ability to problem-solve, follow individual plans and supervisor directions, and work independently as well as part of a team. Compassion, patience, and respect for individuals with differing abilities. Ability to maintain DOT certification. Ability to complete orientation and ongoing training in a timely manner. Use of a personal vehicle and home and/or cell phone number. Ability to complete and maintain First Aid/CPR certification and Medication Administration Certification. Favorable references. Previous experience working with persons with disabilities is preferred. Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to perform light-to-medium work, including sitting for extended periods while driving; using hands and fingers to operate vehicle controls; and periodically standing, bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching while assisting passengers and completing job duties. The position may require assisting individuals on and off vehicles, including individuals who use wheelchairs, as well as pushing and pulling wheelchair loads. The employee must be able to lift and carry job-related items up to approximately 20-25 pounds. Essential functions must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.
