Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated Transportation Assistant to support our transportation operations and ensure smooth logistics for our residents and staff. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a keen understanding of transportation management systems. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to a well-coordinated community that values safety, efficiency, and customer service. Duties Assist with scheduling and coordinating transportation services for residents and staff using vehicle dispatch software and transportation management systems. Manage communication with drivers, residents, and external vendors via multi-line phone systems, ensuring timely updates and responses. Support vehicle dispatching activities, including route planning, tracking via GPS and GIS tools, and adherence to DOT regulations. Enter data accurately into logistics databases such as Oracle Transportation Management while maintaining organized records of shipments, pickups, and deliveries. Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries related to transportation schedules, freight handling, and shipping & receiving processes. Collaborate with internal departments to facilitate efficient road transportation operations and logistics planning. Assist in maintaining compliance with safety standards, including DOT regulations and fleet management protocols. Requirements Proven experience with transportation planning, logistics, or supply chain operations. Familiarity with GIS (Geographic Information Systems), GPS technology, and vehicle dispatch software. Strong knowledge of road transportation operations, freight handling, and shipping & receiving procedures. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel for data entry and analysis tasks. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently. Effective communication skills for phone call management, internal communication, and customer interactions. Understanding of DOT regulations governing commercial vehicle operations is preferred. Experience working with transportation management systems like Oracle Transportation Management or similar platforms is advantageous.
