Job Overview The Inventory Planner will be responsible for deploying processes and tools to perform the key forecasting activities within the distribution business. You will be a key member of the inventory planning team making cross-functional decisions including short-and long-term stocking strategy, systems implementation, and inventory optimization in a rapidly growing company.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
As a key inventory planning resource for the company, you will provide the day-to-day and strategic planning to optimize inventory levels driving buying team activity, warehouse operations, and supporting sales. The inventory planner will provide direct execution of the following activities: Building strategies to improve ABC stratification, forecast accuracy, replenishment planning, part segmentation and inventory optimization. Development and execution of the stocking strategies for each warehouse. Approval of requisitions for new stocking items in accordance with company policies. Bill-of-Material maintenance, planning, component relationships and work order management by warehouse. Improving forecasting models and their application to the Pipeline business. Process improvement for managing inventory turns, service levels, fill rate, forecast alerts, safety stock and disposition of excess and obsolete inventory. Distribution Center Planning for multi-warehouse stocking strategies and deployment. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor's degree in supply chain, Business, Engineering, or other technical discipline that is relevant to assigned responsibilities. 2+ years of experience in an inventory planning role within in a distribution environment. ERP / Planning systems - Oracle, MRP, planning, system implementation. Experience working in demand planning tools is a plus. Demonstrated proficiency in statistics, forecasting, and forecasting methods with an understanding of their financial and operational impact. This role requires a strong understanding of both the inventory planning process and the impact it makes on all other areas of the business. Work well with a diverse group of people at all levels of organizations including Supply Chain, Operations, and Sales. Ability and willingness to work along-side co-workers to understand customer needs and drive improvements which create value for the company. Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the general public.
Ability to:
Ability to manipulate and analyze large data sets. Work independently with minimum supervision solving problems and prioritizing workloads to meet deadlines. Take initiative to plan and complete assigned work with a high level of accuracy. Travel domestically up to 15%
