  • Logistics Coordinator - 1st Shift - Pay up to $70,000
  • Job Description
  • The Logistics Coordinator oversees the flow of materials and freight to ensure on-time production and delivery.

This role coordinates inbound and outbound shipments, manages transportation activities, and supports warehouse and production teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The position is based in Boardman, OH and follows a Monday-Friday schedule with some overtime, offering a contract-to-hire opportunity after approximately 90 days.

  • Responsibilities
  • + Coordinate incoming materials, equipment, and major components to support production schedules and customer delivery commitments.

+ Schedule and monitor inbound and outbound freight activity to ensure timely receipt and shipment of materials.

+ Lead and support daily activities for shipping personnel, freight handlers, and packaging/load preparation staff.

+ Develop and communicate daily shipping, loading, and transportation schedules to internal teams and external partners.

+ Resolve loading dock conflicts and prioritize inbound and outbound freight movements to keep operations running smoothly.

+ Work directly with suppliers to expedite critical materials and meet shipment deadlines.

+ Manage transportation routing, carrier assignments, and freight placement activities for all shipments.

+ Verify, identify, stage, and track incoming materials for production use, ensuring accuracy and availability.

+ Prepare and maintain shipping documentation, including bills of lading, permits, freight paperwork, and load records.

+ Coordinate oversized, specialized, and customer-specific shipments in compliance with applicable requirements.

+ Partner with sales, operations, warehouse, and quality teams to support customer requirements and delivery expectations.

+ Obtain freight quotes and transportation options for customers as needed and communicate options clearly.

+ Monitor shipment status and provide timely updates to internal departments, carriers, and customers.

+ Ensure loads are properly packaged, labeled, photographed, and documented before shipment.

+ Support inspection and shipment readiness reviews with production and assembly teams.

+ Track inventory and materials requiring additional processing, storage, or special handling.

+ Maintain accurate freight, logistics, and shipment records within company systems and tools.

+ Perform data entry and order entry tasks related to logistics, shipping, and inventory control.

+ Collaborate with warehouse operations and shipping and receiving teams to optimize material flow and distribution.

+ Utilize ERP systems, Microsoft Excel, and other office software to manage logistics information and reporting.

  • Essential Skills
  • + Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.

+ Minimum of 2+ years of experience in logistics, transportation, shipping, supply chain, manufacturing coordination, or related operations.

+ Proven experience coordinating inbound and outbound freight activities.

+ Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with customers, vendors, carriers, and internal teams.

+ Ability to prioritize multiple projects and adjust quickly in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.

+ Knowledge of shipping documentation, freight coordination, and transportation processes.

+ Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities in operational settings.

+ Ability to analyze information and make sound logistics and operational decisions.

+ Comfort working within both office and manufacturing environments.

+ Experience with logistics, freight coordination, supply chain operations, and distribution activities.

+ Ability to manage shipping and receiving tasks, inventory control, and warehouse operations.

+ Competence in data entry, clerical tasks, and order entry related to logistics.

+ Familiarity with ERP systems and the use of Microsoft Excel for tracking and reporting.

  • Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • + Experience in a manufacturing, industrial, fabrication, compressor, oil and gas, or heavy equipment environment.

+ Previous experience leading or supervising shipping, warehouse, logistics, or transportation personnel.

+ Familiarity with oversized loads, permitting requirements, and specialized freight shipments.

+ Working knowledge of project management or logistics management software.

+ Understanding of multiple transportation modes including truckload, less-than-truckload (LTL), specialized hauling, and expedited freight.

+ Experience reading technical documents, engineering drawings, or equipment specifications.

+ Experience in supply chain planning, production scheduling, or inventory coordination.

+ Experience with carrier management, vendor management, fleet coordination, and transportation scheduling.

+ Knowledge of load planning, freight routing, and bills of lading processes.

+ Exposure to manufacturing logistics and industrial operations environments.

  • Work Environment
  • This role is based in Boardman, OH and operates in a combined office and manufacturing environment.

Typical shifts run Monday through Friday from either 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., or 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with some overtime as needed to meet production and shipping demands. You work closely with warehouse operations, shipping and receiving teams, and production personnel in an industrial setting that handles standard and oversized loads. The position relies on Microsoft Office applications, ERP systems, and logistics management tools for planning, documentation, and communication. The environment is fast-paced and safety-conscious, with frequent interaction on the loading dock, in storage areas, and in office spaces to coordinate freight, inventory, and documentation.

  • Pay and Benefits
  • The pay range for this position is $65000.

00 - $65000.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
