Description The Project Quoting and Materials Manager is responsible for the preparation of project estimates and quotations while coordinating raw material inventory. This role works closely with customers, engineering, sales, production, and operations to ensure quotes are accurate, materials are available, costs are controlled, and project requirements are met on time. Requirements An employee assigned to this title shall perform a majority, but may not perform all, of the duties listed in this job description. Serve as a primary point of contact for customers regarding inquiries.
Prepare and manage job quotations based on customer requirements, specifications, and internal costing information.
Coordinate with internal departments to ensure quote accuracy, order alignment, and timely response to customer needs.
Monitor raw material requirements and support purchasing, inventory, and production planning activities.
Maintain accurate customer, quote, order, and inventory records in company systems.
Communicate schedule changes, material shortages, and order updates to appropriate internal teams and customers.
Support continuous improvement in customer service, quoting processes, and material flow coordination.
Assist in resolving order discrepancies, pricing issues, and material-related concerns.
Work closely with sales, production, purchasing, and operations to support efficient job execution.
Ensure compliance with industry standards, environmental regulations, and company policies.
Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Negotiate with suppliers for raw materials and services to optimize cost and quality.
Address customer concerns and ensure satisfaction through proactive communication.
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices, and participating in professional societies.
Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results, as needed. Support similar functions within the Ashland Foundry Group as needed. All other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of quoting, estimating, and cost analysis processes
Knowledge of raw material planning, inventory control, and purchasing coordination
Knowledge of production scheduling and manufacturing workflow
Knowledge of customer service practices and order management
Knowledge of pricing structures, job specifications, and contract requirements
Knowledge of ERP, MRP, and other business system applications
Knowledge of supply chain processes and vendor coordination
Knowledge of quality, delivery, and operational performance requirements
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Skill in preparing accurate job quotes and cost estimates
Skill in coordinating multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines
Skill in reviewing specifications, material requirements, and production needs
Skill in using ERP/MRP systems, spreadsheets, and reporting tools
Skill in cross-functional coordination with sales, purchasing, production, and operations
Skill in maintaining accurate records and documentation
Ability to analyze costs, material needs, and scheduling impacts
Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and internal teams
Ability to anticipate material shortages and support proactive planning
Ability to make sound decisions using available data and operational input
Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail in quoting and materials management
Ability to work independently while collaborating across departments
Ability to support continuous improvement in quoting, planning, and customer support processes
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Associate degree in business, supply chain, operations management, manufacturing, or a related field required; bachelor's degree preferred.
Equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience may be considered.
Three to five years of experience in customer service, quoting, estimating, materials planning, production coordination, or a related manufacturing or operations role required.
Experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Experience with raw material planning, inventory coordination, and production support strongly preferred.
Experience preparing quotations, reviewing specifications, and coordinating with cross-functional teams required. Experience using ERP/MRP systems, Microsoft Excel, and other business software preferred. Prio experience in project coordination, inside sales support, or supply chain operations is a plus.
Salary Description
$75-85k
