Position Summary:
This position provides transportation services for children and families involved in CUA services. The Transportation Specialist ensures transportation operations comply with CUA, DHS, state, and applicable federal standards and requirements. The role ensures timely and safe transportation for children and families. Responsibilities include coordinating with caregivers, case management teams, visitation teams, and other partners. The position operates on a fluctuating schedule between 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transport children from school, home, or other locations to the office for supervised visitation and scheduled meetings.
- Engage with children in a supportive and age-appropriate manner, demonstrating an understanding of child development and trauma-informed practices while providing transportation services.
- Provide transportation support for children and families based on case and program needs.
- Assist with school transportation during transitional periods, including changes in placement or school arrangements.
- Provide transportation support during placement disruptions to help ensure continuity of services.
- Pick up and deliver case records, documentation, and other materials as requested.
- Assist with transportation schedule coordination efforts.
- Maintain timely and accurate documentation related to transportation services.
- Follow GPCA-CUA, DHS, and applicable safety requirements while transporting children.
- Adjust daily transportation schedules as needed to respond to changing case and program needs.
- Maintain 20 hours of required annual training and professional development in accordance with agency and program requirements.
- Maintain flexibility to work varying schedules, including 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
- Minimum of two years of direct experience working with children and families in a professional setting.
- Minimum of two years of direct experience working with children and families in a professional setting.
Skills & Competencies:
○ Valid driver's license required.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills ○ Ability to meet all agency requirements for transporting children. ○ Ability to engage children in a supportive, respectful, and developmentally appropriate manner ○ Understanding of trauma-informed practices and the impact of trauma on children and families ○ Patience and professionalism when working with children experiencing stress, behavioral challenges, or transitions ○ Strong time management and punctuality ○ Ability to follow an established transportation schedule and respond appropriately to schedule changes ○ Ability to follow safety procedures and agency policies when transporting children ○ Strong attention to detail when handling case records and documentation ○ Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive case information ○ Ability to exercise sound judgment and remain calm when unexpected situations arise ○ Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, case management staff, caregivers, schools, and children ○ Ability to work independently while following direction from the Prevention Supervisor ○ Flexibility to work varying schedules based on program and transportation needs
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous routing-management experience to oversee schedules, carriers, and drivers
- Additional education in transportation management, logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
Working Conditions:
- Most working hours are spent in a vehicle, exposed to whole-body vibrations, road noise, and road conditions.
