Job Description
Logistics Coordinator - Load Planning & Shipping/Receiving Shippensburg, PA | Full Time | NOTS Logistics, LLC Summary / Objective NOTS Logistics LLC is seeking a highly motivated and driven Logistics Coordinator for our Shippensburg, PA warehouse facility, an individual looking to build a career in the field of logistics. This is a combined role spanning both sides of the dock: planning and executing freight movement, and managing the accuracy of shipping, receiving, and inventory transactions at the site. The Logistics Coordinator processes customer orders, plans and optimizes shipments into loads using the Transportation Management System, tenders freight to third-party carriers, and maintains accurate shipment and inventory records in WMS. The role also provides visibility to management and the customer through tracking, process oversight, auditing, research, and troubleshooting of operational issues. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
Load Building & Optimization:
Build and optimize shipments into loads using the Transportation Management System (TMS) adding shipments to loads, rating loads, securing carrier coverage, and setting appointments. Identify opportunities to improve performance through truckload multi-stops, consolidated shipments, and similar strategies.Order Processing:
Obtain and process customer product orders, tender freight to third-party carriers, and keep the TMS current with accurate, timely shipment information.Shipping & Receiving:
Use WMS and TMS to maintain the accuracy and integrity of shipments, receipts, and inventories. Receive inbound deliveries and verify against documentation.Shipment Visibility & Auditing:
Provide visibility to management and the customer by tracking shipments, providing process oversight, auditing, investigating load exceptions, researching, and troubleshooting operational issues.Load Recovery:
Recover customer loads and resolve service failures promptly, escalating as appropriate.Customer Service:
Deliver excellent service to assigned account(s). Monitor and resolve system email messages and customer inquiries internal and external.Issue Resolution:
Handle issues arising in shipping, receiving, and inventory handling using critical thinking to analyze information, make decisions within the framework of the SOP, evaluate results, and determine whether further action is needed.Administrative Support:
Operate company computer systems to access email, electronic calendars, WMS, TMS, and other basic office support software. Answer phones and complete other administrative and office tasks.Collaboration:
Participate and assist in meetings with supervisors and managers, lending insight and thoughts with regard to NOTS Logistics best practices.Flexibility:
Assume the responsibilities of others as directed by NOTS Logistics managers in response to circumstances that require assistance.Initiative:
Show the initiative necessary to continually educate yourself and apply that knowledge. Look for additional ways to add value beyond what is expected. Other projects and tasks assigned by your supervisor. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred. At least two (2) years of experience in the logistics industry; one (1) or more years in transportation, supply chain, or warehouse operations preferred. Working knowledge of WMS concepts and best practices; experience with TMS strongly preferred. Working knowledge of OSHA best practices. Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and sense of urgency. Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent organization and administrative skills. Good analytical and problem-solving skills; able to use critical thinking to analyze information, communicate appropriately, solve problems, and evaluate results. Strong computer skills, with the ability to learn and regularly operate various computer systems across different platforms. Integrity and leadership skills; exemplary customer service skills. Ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships with customers, carriers, and NOTS Logistics associates. Ability to work first or second shift as needed; flexibility with scheduling required. Regular, predictable, and full attendance is an essential function of the job.
