Job Description
IBM i (AS400) RPG Developer & Systems Administrator - Logistics We are seeking a versatile IBM i RPG Developer & Systems Administrator to manage our core technology stack. In this dual role, you will divide your time between developing application enhancements and managing the health, security, and performance of our IBM i (Power Systems) environment. This infrastructure powers our global logistics, warehousing, and supply chain operations. Key Responsibilities Application Development (RPG)
Code and Enhance Systems:
Write, modify, and debug RPG IV (ILE/Free-Form) and Control Language (CL) code to support logistics management workflows.Modernize Core Software:
Convert legacyRPG III/RPG400
programs into modular, free-form architectures.Integrate Supply Chain Platforms:
Build and maintainREST/SOAP
APIs to connect the IBM i core with external Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and third-party logistics (3PL) providers.Optimize Data Architecture:
Write advanced SQL queries and manage relational databases using DB2 for i. Systems AdministrationOS Maintenance:
Perform IBM i operating system upgrades, install PTFs (Program Temporary Fixes), and manage technology refreshes.Security & Compliance:
Manage user profiles, system security configurations, object authority, and audit logs.Backup & Disaster Recovery:
Oversee daily backup operations using BRMS (Backup, Recovery, and Media Services) and maintain disaster recovery readiness.Performance Monitoring:
Analyze system performance, adjust subsystems, optimize disk space, and manage work management jobs to ensure maximum uptime. Required Skills & QualificationsExperience:
5+ years of combined experience in RPG development and IBM i system administration.Development Skills:
Proficient in RPG Free-Form, ILE (service programs, modules), CL/CLLE, and Embedded SQL.Admin Skills:
Hands-on experience with IBM i OS (V7R3 or higher), PTF management, and BRMS.Domain Knowledge:
Solid understanding of supply chain, logistics, or distribution operations.Database Tools:
