Primary Responsibilities
  • In accordance with internal
  • policies and procedures, ensure the receiving and shipment of various types of goods and materials are conducted in a timely and effective manner. Prioritize all activities to meet deadlines with regards to processing outgoing shipments and receiving/delivering goods.
  • Use of SAP system to generate shipping documents
  • Preparing required customs documents for export shipments including Bill of Lading (BOL), Commercial Invoice (Proforma), Canada Customs Invoice, Section 232 forms and Certificate of Origin (USMCA)
  • Work with accounting to verify the accuracy of invoices from customs brokers and carriers, providing back up paperwork and any needed information for incorrect invoices.
  • Work with sales on ensuring the customs have the correct customs information to ship repairs back to our facility
  • Entering shipments into our customs broker's portal to ensure shipments will cross the border
  • Keeping a detailed open orders log to help the sales, shipping and assembly team
  • File all relevant paperwork for easy recall to help the sales and accounting team
  • Work with carriers and brokers for Proof of delivery paperwork and providing relevant shipment information to the customers
  • Creating and maintaining the On-Time shipment report each month
  • Picking/delivering materials as they are required to assembly and CNC work stations
  • Complete inventory transactions in SAP to maintain inventory accuracy. This includes receiving material and issuing material
  • Perform cycle counts as requested by the Inventory Control Specialist to maintain accurate inventory
  • Call carriers'/freight forwarders to arrange pick-ups for local/global shipments
  • Arranging pickups and deliveries in carrier's online portals.
  • Prepare Fed Ex and UPS shipments
  • Carry out correspondence with various vendors including shipment set ups, delivery instructions and estimated delivery expectations
  • Inspect and verify incoming goods against invoices and other documents; record shortages and reject damaged goods
  • Unpack and route goods to appropriate storage areas
  • Ensure work area is clean and safe throughout the shift and at the end of each shift
  • Ensure self and others work in a safe possible way and reporting injuries, occurrences or near misses to Supervisors
  • Ensure that all the required personal protective equipment is worn at required times and in the required areas
  • Undertaking of special duties as required
  • Build shipping containers / boxes as necessary Experience and Skills
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Shipping and receiving experience an asset
  • SAP experience preferred
  • Forklift and crane experience
  • Knowledge of shipping, customs requirement, and the US, Mexico and Canada agreement (USMCA).
  • Understanding of HS codes and their requirement for shipping across borders.
  • Knowledgeable to work with FIFO and learn manufacturing tools
  • Highly detail oriented with the ability to perform duties accurately and efficiently
  • Demonstrate proficient problem solving techniques
  • Able to work well independently and on a team basis
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel and Outlook)
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills to work effectively with DESCH employees, vendors, and customs brokers.

Pay:
$25.00 - $28.00 per hour Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
