full-time Position Summary The Material Planner is responsible for ensuring materials, components, and supplies are available to support production schedules and customer requirements. This position works closely with Purchasing, Production, Supply Chain, Inventory Control, and other cross-functional teams to maintain appropriate inventory levels, identify potential shortages, and ensure materials are available when needed. The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytical, and proactive, with strong communication skills and experience working in a manufacturing or supply chain environment. Key Responsibilities Plan and coordinate material requirements based on production schedules, forecasts, inventory levels, and customer demand. Review MRP (Material Requirements Planning) recommendations and generate or communicate material requirements. Monitor inventory levels and ensure adequate materials are available to meet production schedules. Identify potential material shortages, delays, or supply constraints and communicate risks to appropriate stakeholders. Work closely with Purchasing and suppliers to monitor material availability and delivery schedules. Expedite materials when necessary to prevent production disruptions. Coordinate with Production Planning, Manufacturing, Warehouse, Procurement, and Supply Chain teams. Monitor open purchase orders and expected delivery dates. Analyze demand, inventory, lead times, and usage trends to improve material planning. Maintain accurate material planning information within the ERP/MRP system. Assist with managing excess, obsolete, and slow-moving inventory. Support inventory accuracy and participate in cycle counting and inventory reconciliation activities as needed. Communicate changes in production schedules or material requirements to appropriate departments. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory, material flow, and supply chain processes. Prepare and maintain reports related to shortages, inventory levels, material availability, and supplier performance. Escalate critical material shortages or supply issues that may impact production or customer commitments. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Logistics, Operations, or a related field preferred. 2-5 years of experience in material planning, production planning, inventory control, purchasing, supply chain, or manufacturing operations preferred. Experience working with ERP/MRP systems. Strong Microsoft Excel skills. Understanding of inventory management, production planning, purchasing, and supply chain principles. Ability to analyze data and identify potential material shortages or inventory issues. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively with multiple departments and manage changing priorities. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities. Preferred Qualifications Experience in a manufacturing or production environment. Experience with SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar ERP systems. Knowledge of MRP, BOMs (Bills of Material), lead times, safety stock, and production schedules.

APICS/ASCM

certification or related supply chain training is a plus.
