Job Title - Safety & Transportation Coordinator Reports to - Safety Manager Position Summary The Safety & Transportation Coordinator is responsible for managing daily dispatch operations for a fleet of approximately 10 over-the-road (OTR) trucks while supporting the Safety Manager with daily manufacturing safety activities, reporting, documentation, and transportation operations. This position supports transportation coverage, DOT compliance, operational continuity, safety inspections, corrective-action follow-up, driver communication, and ordering operational and safety-related supplies. Safety experience is preferred. Transportation, dispatch, logistics, or DOT experience is helpful but not required; training will be provided. Candidates must be comfortable using Microsoft Word and Excel for reports, spreadsheets, tracking, and documentation. Essential Responsibilities Dispatch OTR drivers, secure and coordinate loads, minimize empty miles, and communicate schedules and delays. Monitor driver availability, deliveries, delays, and transportation coverage while supporting daily operations and serving as a primary driver contact. Maintain accurate dispatch, load, ELD, and transportation records. Monitor compliance with DOT regulations, ELD requirements, hours of service (HOS), and 70-hour cycle requirements; ensure proper ELD login and usage. Report compliance concerns and assist with driver coaching on dispatch, safety, DOT, and ELD requirements. Assist with safety inspections, observations, documentation, and corrective actions, including follow-up on safety findings. Prepare weekly and monthly reports, spreadsheets, and administrative documents using Word and Excel. Order transportation, safety, and operational supplies while maintaining purchasing and inventory records and supporting assigned duties. Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill. Perform other job duties as assigned. Education & Experience A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Safety or manufacturing safety experience is preferred, along with prior dispatch or logistics experience. Transportation, dispatch, logistics, or DOT experience is a plus but not required. Candidates should have knowledge of DOT regulations and ELD systems, or a willingness to learn. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required, along with strong organizational, communication, computer, and problem-solving skills. The candidate must be able to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment and work comfortably in both an office and manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate must be dependable, detail-oriented, compliance-focused, and willing to learn. Work Environment Work is performed in a well-lighted, heated but not climate-controlled indoor production environment with adequate ventilation. Noise levels are usually loud. The employee may experience extreme heat in summer and cold in winter and may be exposed to dust, fumes, vibration, and moving mechanical machinery. The position requires the use of common protective and safety equipment while working in designated areas of the manufacturing facility. Physical Demands This position requires moderate physical activity involving a combination of office duties and routine activities on the manufacturing floor. Employees must be able to regularly stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout the manufacturing facility while conducting safety observations and performing assigned responsibilities. The employee may occasionally be required to lift and carry materials up to 50 lbs. The role may also require frequent repetitive motions, manual dexterity, and coordination with moving equipment or objects. Fox Packaging can change the shift schedule or request to rotate schedule based on Fox Packaging needs. Fox Packaging may require work on weekends, mandatory or voluntary overtime and might require occasional travel (up to 20%) by land and/or air. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
