Job Description We are looking for a Buyer/Supply Chain Specialist to join a growing automotive services organization in Texas on a contract-to-permanent basis. This position plays a key role in strengthening supplier partnerships, improving sourcing decisions, and supporting a dependable flow of automotive aftermarket products. The ideal candidate brings strong commercial judgment, hands-on purchasing experience, and the ability to balance cost, quality, and continuity of supply in a fast-moving environment.
Responsibilities: Build and carry out sourcing plans for assigned product lines to support cost, quality, and availability targets. Research, assess, and select suppliers that can meet operational needs while supporting long-term business objectives. Manage supplier relationships from initial qualification through ongoing performance reviews and improvement efforts. Lead commercial discussions covering pricing, contract terms, service expectations, and payment conditions. Analyze spending patterns and identify opportunities to combine purchases for better leverage and lower overall acquisition costs. Monitor supply chain exposure such as tariffs, capacity limitations, and sourcing disruptions, then develop practical mitigation plans. Compare domestic, nearshore, and international supply options to improve flexibility and strengthen competitiveness. Review market conditions, quotation data, and cost inputs to guide negotiations and support cost-reduction initiatives. Partner with teams across engineering, product, operations, quality, and logistics to support sourcing projects and new product introductions. Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier files, and agreement documentation to ensure organized procurement activity. 5+ years of experience in purchasing, strategic sourcing, supply chain, or commodity-focused procurement roles. Background in automotive aftermarket, manufacturing, or industrial purchasing environments is strongly preferred. Demonstrated success negotiating pricing, supplier agreements, and commercial terms with measurable cost improvements. Solid understanding of supplier performance management, total cost analysis, and supply risk reduction strategies. Ability to evaluate quotes, interpret market trends, and assess cost structures to support informed buying decisions. Familiarity with global sourcing considerations, including trade impacts, tariffs, and supplier diversification approaches. Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills with proficiency in Excel, procurement platforms, and Oracle Supply Chain Management.
