This position is responsible for identifying material constraints, monitoring long lead-time items, and providing schedule recommendations that support customer delivery commitments and operational objectives. The Material Planner works across Purchasing, Inventory Control, Production, Engineering, and the Project Management group to identify and resolve material issues, minimize schedule disruptions, and support successful production and delivery execution. _______________________________________________________
Key Responsibilities Monitor Material Readiness:
Review production schedules and material availability to identify shortages, risks, and constraints that may impact production. Monitor MRP inputs to ensure accurate demand, inventory, and Bill of Materials data for effective material planning.
Support Production Scheduling:
Work closely with the Master Planner to develop realistic production schedules based on material availability and manufacturing priorities.
Coordinate Across Departments:
Collaborate with Purchasing, Inventory Control, Production, Engineering, and the Project Management group to resolve material issues and support schedule execution.
Identify and Resolve Risks:
Proactively communicate material shortages and help develop recovery plans to minimize schedule disruptions and delivery delays.
Support Continuous Improvement:
Assist in developing planning processes and improving data accuracy to support future implementation of M2M Planning and Scheduling.
Forecast Material Needs:
Provide Purchasing with forecasted material demand to help prevent production delays, with a specific focus on repeat and running projects.
Support Sourcing and Material Price Negotiation:
Support Purchasing and Sourcing agents at QES with price negotiation by providing forecasted material consumption. Monitor long lead-time items and identify potential material constraints that could affect production schedules and customer delivery commitments. Provide schedule recommendations based on material availability, manufacturing priorities, and identified material risks. Knowledge and Experience Requirements _______________________________________________________ Required Qualifications 3+ years of experience in Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field. Experience in production planning, scheduling, inventory control, material planning, or manufacturing operations. Understanding of manufacturing processes, production scheduling, inventory management, and material flow within a manufacturing environment. Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Excel. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. _______________________________________________________ Preferred Qualifications CPIM certification. Associate or bachelor's degree in Business or a related field. Core Competencies & Skills Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
