The Transport Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient and timely movement of goods within the container and trailer industry across Virginia. This position is responsible for coordinating transportation logistics, optimizing routes, and managing carrier relationships to support supply chain operations. The Transport Specialist will analyze transportation data to improve delivery performance and reduce costs while maintaining regulatory compliance. Collaboration with internal teams such as inventory management, sales, and customer service is essential to align transportation activities with business objectives. Ultimately, this role ensures that products are delivered safely, on time, and most cost-effectively, contributing directly to customer satisfaction and operational excellence.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or related field preferred. Minimum of 2 years of experience in transportation coordination or logistics within a transportation-related industry. Strong knowledge of transportation regulations and compliance requirements in Virginia. Proficiency with transportation management and Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
CDL License Required Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or related field. Experience working with freight carriers. Demonstrated ability to analyze data and implement process improvements.
Responsibilities:
Plan, coordinate, and monitor transportation schedules to ensure the timely delivery of containers. Track shipments and resolve any transportation issues or delays proactively. Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local transportation regulations and safety standards. Analyze transportation data and generate reports to identify trends and opportunities for process improvements. Collaborate with warehouse, inventory, and sales teams to synchronize logistics activities. Develop and implement strategies to improve transportation efficiency and reduce operational costs.
