Overview The Yard & Logistics Assistant supports the Yard Manager and field operations by helping ensure materials, equipment, trailers, and supplies are organized and available where they are needed. This is a hands-on support role responsible for material pickups and returns, equipment transportation, trailer hauling, dump runs, and general yard organization. The Yard & Logistics Assistant works closely with the Yard Manager and field teams to help keep daily operations moving safely and efficiently. This position is ideal for someone who is dependable, organized, comfortable driving and pulling trailers, and willing to jump in wherever needed to support the team. Key Responsibilities Yard & Material Support Assist the Yard Manager with daily yard operations and organization Receive, sort, organize, and store incoming and returned materials Process material returns and maintain appropriate documentation Stage materials, tools, equipment, and trailers for upcoming projects Assist with loading and unloading materials and equipment Help maintain organized material and supply storage areas Keep the yard, storage areas, trucks, and trailers clean and orderly Identify and report damaged, missing, or unsafe materials or equipment Transportation & Logistics Pick up materials, supplies, tools, and equipment from vendors and suppliers Deliver materials and equipment to jobsites as directed Transport equipment using company vehicles and vehicle/trailer combinations the employee is legally qualified and authorized to operate Pull and maneuver trailers safely Complete dump and disposal runs to approved facilities Properly load and secure materials and equipment before transportation Perform required vehicle and trailer inspections Communicate delays, vehicle concerns, material shortages, or other issues that could affect field operations or project schedules Equipment & Operational Support Assist with preparing trucks, trailers, tools, and equipment for field use Help maintain company equipment in clean and ready-to-use condition Coordinate with the Yard Manager regarding material, equipment, and transportation needs Support field crews with material and equipment needs as directed Follow company safety policies and applicable transportation, load-securement, and equipment procedures Perform other duties reasonably related to yard, material, fleet, and operational support as assigned What We're Looking For Dependable and accountable independent worker with a strong work ethic Organized and able to manage multiple assignments throughout the day Able to communicate effectively with the Yard Manager, field crews, vendors, and other team members Safety-minded and attentive when operating vehicles, pulling trailers, and handling materials Willing to work both in the yard and on the road as operational needs change Able to safely perform the physical requirements of the position, including lifting, carrying, loading, unloading, and moving construction materials and equipment Valid driver's license and driving record acceptable under company requirements Preferred Experience Previous construction, yard, warehouse, delivery, logistics, or material-handling experience Experience pulling and maneuvering trailers Experience securing construction materials or equipment for transportation Familiarity with construction materials, tools, and equipment Experience operating forklifts, skid steers, or similar equipment is a plus CDL is not required for this position ; employees may only operate vehicles and vehicle/trailer combinations for which they are properly licensed, qualified, and authorized Why This Role Matters Successful construction projects depend on more than what happens at the jobsite.
