Overview The Receiving Material Handler loads, unloads and moves materials and finished goods within the plant or on plant grounds with industrial lift trucks and other material handling equipment. Receives specific work assignments under general supervision and resolves most problems with limited supervisory assistance. Must always use extreme care when operating equipment and is expected to practice and adhere to the Company's Six Sigma principles. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following with other duties assigned as necessary : The Receiving Material Handler has the primary job function of supporting the receiving dock. This includes moving material into and out of the areas in receiving and outside. Unloads trucks, verifies shipments, and receives materials into inventory. Moves incoming materials to designated areas using power equipment (e.g., industrial trucks, power hoists) or, when appropriate, by hand. Counts/records units received, moved, or handled; attaches material/product identification tags/labels and processes necessary inventory transactions utilizing barcode scanner/ERP system. Prepares material for outside processes. Reviews job orders (written or verbal) and determines specific handling and/or transportation requirements. Loads/unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves or into or from vehicles. Assembles crates and pallets for material/product storage and/or shipment. Cleans and maintains work area (daily), material handling equipment, vehicles and other tools/equipment as requested. Always work in a safe manner. Ensures that all work is done in accordance with and adheres to IEA's ISO and Quality standards. Physical Demands:
Maximum lifting requirement (pounds): 100 (infrequently), 50 (occasionally), 25 (frequently). Maximum moving requirement (pounds): 300 with assistance. Maintaining physical condition necessary for the following: Frequent lifting, carrying, standing, sitting (operating forklift), walking, climbing, crouching, stooping, squatting, and twisting upper body. Working at heights off the ground up to 20 feet.
Vision requirements:
Close, distance, and peripheral vision; depth perception.
Work Environment:
Work location: Public highways, private roads, parking lots, and the Company's plant grounds, metal fabrication/assembly shop and indoor/outdoor storage areas.
Key skills, abilities, and knowledge: Ability to read and understand job requirements, shop drawings, and blueprints, maps, procurement documentation (purchase orders, etc.) and delivery instructions. Knowledge of proper forklift operational and safety requirements. Knowledge of occupational hazards and the ability to follow safe work practices. Ability to communicate and work effectively with others.
Experiential:
One or more years of material handling, or related experience is desirable.
Educational:
Related technical training (high school or beyond) is desirable but not essential.
Certificates, Licenses:
Forklift operator certification, DOT Medical Certificate.
