Job Description
Position Summary:
Ensure customer and production material demands are always met on time Plan, forecast, schedule and process component and material orders to fulfill production and sales order demands Process procurement of floor stock, supplies and equipment Process purchase orders utilizing (MRP system) pc/MRP Run MRP daily (in pc/MRP), analyze and process demand for inventory materials Assign new part numbers for material and services Generate and update BOM's (as required) Process DMR's (Discrepant Material Reports) internally with QC and directly with suppliers and manufacturing subcontractors Maintain and update inventory items in pc/MRP (description, lead time, cost, quantity, etc.) Maintain and regularly update the AVL (Approved Vendor List) Maintain an organized vendor filing system Work efficiently with internal stakeholders, management, technical teams Work independently with minimum supervision Job duties and responsibility: Primary Material Control Dept. contact and lead for all suppliers and overseas parent company Foster and develop strong working relationships with parent and affiliate counterparts (Japan and China) Audit suppliers and subcontractors to ensure their performance, on a perpetual basis Manage, process and review purchase requests and purchase orders Manage accurate and timely invoicing to customers Review and implement cost cutting programs Review bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations Coordinates activities involved with procuring goods and services working with engineering and manufacturing teams Review and manage the document control process Ensure key quality reports are provided by vendors Review and approve Sales Invoices, Vendor Purchase Orders, Receivers, DMR's, and RMA Sales Orders, end of the month purchasing and inventory reports ERP software administrator for pc/MRP, includes performing version updates, create/delete supplier/customer accounts, create/delete user accounts, manage access rights, etc. Coordinates all activities involved with procuring materials and services Procurement to maintain minimum stock levels (as indicated in our inventory/BOM software) Procurement of production floor stock and supplies Procurement of material for RMA's (includes updating costing and status) Provide costing and procurement status of material to sales and technical departments (Engineering, Production, Field Service) Provide cost analysis of materials Prepare quote package for bids Negotiate competitive pricing with suppliers Confer with vendors to obtain product or service information, such as price, availability, and delivery schedules, as well as necessary technical information Prepares purchase orders and bid requests Maintains manual or computerized procurement records, such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories. Discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, end users, suppliers, and others necessary to determine source of problems and to determine appropriate corrective action(s) Expedite delivery of goods as necessary Verify and keep records on incoming and outgoing shipments Determine shipping method for materials using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates Contact carrier representatives to make arrangements and to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials Confer with engineering and purchasing personnel and vendors regarding stock procurement and availability Other duties as assigned Required job skills: Good communication skills in verbal and written English Japanese language, Vietnamese language, Chinese language skills preferred Interface with different departments, internal teams, vendors and customers in a professional manner Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel, Word, Powerpoint, and Outlook Experience with MRP software is desirable (preferably pc/MRP) Detail oriented, whilst able to also manage processes, progress and results Strong negotiation skills and ability to facilitate resolution of issues internally and with customers Ability to properly prioritize projects and work with competing deadlines Ability to work efficiently despite frequent interruptions, strong time management skills Ability to multi-task and focus in face of repeated interruptions and demands Ability to prioritize among numerous competing demands to ensure work is timely completed Ability to interface effectively with teams with competing demands and facilitate appropriate resolutions to meet operating needs Good critical thinking skills and ability to quickly and accurately analyze numerous types of data and determine appropriate course of action, appropriate negotiation strategy and appropriate goals Ability to manage costs of department operations within budget Ability to sit for long single periods analyzing and reviewing data and documents, writing reports, preparing proposals and presentations and attending meetings Strong presentation/public speaking skills for purposes of making presentations to prospective vendors, and in internal meetings Flexibility to work long hours and/or weekends from time to time based on operational needs Ability to organize and control (and keep organized and controlled) vast amounts of data and paperwork in logical manner, enabling ready and easy access for self and coworkers Knowledge or experience with shipping & receiving, logistics is a plusExperience:
