Job Description

Logistics Analyst Reports To:
President FLSA Status:
Exempt Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 8:15 AM-4:45
PM, Onsite Revised:
September 16, 2026 Position Summary The Logistics Analyst is responsible for planning, analyzing, and optimizing end-to-end supply chain and logistics operations. This role owns inventory visibility, demand-to-replenishment analysis, inbound and outbound transportation planning, and the cost and pricing data that sit underneath service levels. The ideal candidate combines hands-on logistics experience with strong analytical skills and working knowledge of NetSuite (or a comparable ERP) to keep product moving, inventory accurate, landed cost visible, and freight and fulfillment spend under control. Essential Duties & Responsibilities End-to-End Supply Chain Map, monitor, and improve material flow from supplier through inbound receipt, warehouse, and outbound delivery to customer or branch. Partner with purchasing, warehouse, production/reman, and sales to align lead times, order policies, and service levels. Identify bottlenecks, stock-outs, excess, and process gaps; recommend and implement corrective actions. Support new product introductions, supplier changes, and network or 3PL transitions with logistics and inventory plans. Inventory Management & Analysis Maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counts, variance investigation, and root-cause analysis. Analyze on-hand, on-order, safety stock, turns, aging, dead stock, and ABC classifications. Set and review reorder points, min/max, EOQ, and safety-stock parameters based on demand variability and lead time. Produce recurring inventory health reports (turns, days of supply, fill rate, excess/obsolete) and action lists. Support physical inventory events, including planning, count execution coordination, and reconciliation. Logistics Planning & Execution Plan inbound and outbound freight: mode selection, carrier assignment, consolidation opportunities, and appointment scheduling. Track shipments, exception management (delays, damages, shortages), and claims follow-up. Build and maintain routing guides, freight cost benchmarks, and scorecards for carriers and 3PLs. Coordinate warehouse slotting, receiving priorities, and outbound cutoffs to protect service levels. Support international shipments as needed (commercial invoices, packing lists, incoterms awareness, broker coordination). Cost, Pricing & Landed Cost Build and maintain landed-cost models: product cost, inbound freight, duties/tariffs, brokerage, accessorials, warehousing, and outbound fulfillment. Analyze freight rates and carrier pricing (LTL, FTL, parcel, spot vs. contract) and flag rate increases, surcharge drift, and better-mode opportunities. Support purchasing and finance with cost-to-serve and logistics-cost inputs used for customer pricing, quotes, and margin review. Track inventory carrying cost, excess/obsolete exposure, and the cost impact of safety-stock and order-policy changes. Prepare freight spend, cost-per-unit, and cost-per-shipment reporting; recommend pricing or routing changes that protect margin without hurting service. Partner with vendors and 3PLs on rate cards, fuel and accessorial terms, and invoice accuracy / overcharge recovery. Systems, Data & Continuous Improvement Use NetSuite (preferred) for item master, inventory transactions, purchase orders, transfer orders, work orders, and fulfillment. Build saved searches, dashboards, and operational reports; keep item and location data clean. Translate operational issues into system process improvements (receiving, transfers, cycle count, ship confirm). Document SOPs for inventory control, receiving, shipping, and exception handling. Lead or support Kaizen / cost-reduction projects (freight spend, inventory dollars, warehouse productivity, and landed-cost leakage). Maintain cost and rate data in NetSuite and supporting files so item costs, transfer costs, and freight estimates stay current. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, Business, or equivalent experience. 2-5+ years of experience in logistics, inventory control, supply chain analysis, or warehouse operations. Demonstrated understanding of end-to-end supply chain: procurement → inbound → warehouse → outbound → customer.
Hands-on inventory management:
cycle counting, variance analysis, safety stock, and replenishment logic. Experience planning or coordinating freight (LTL, FTL, parcel, or intermodal) and managing exceptions. Strong Excel skills (lookups, pivot tables, data cleanup); comfortable working with large operational and cost datasets. Ability to break freight invoices, rate cards, and item costs into unit economics that finance and sales can use. Clear written and verbal communication; able to work with warehouse floor, buyers, and leadership.
Preferred Qualifications NetSuite experience:
inventory, purchasing, transfers, fulfillment, saved searches, and item records. Other ERPs (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Acumatica) considered. Experience in distribution, manufacturing, remanufacturing, wholesale parts, or consumer/hard goods. Familiarity with WMS, TMS, or 3PL portals. Knowledge of inventory accounting concepts (valuation, reserves, cycle count controls) and landed-cost or standard-cost mechanics. Experience building freight-rate comparisons, cost-to-serve models, or customer/product margin analysis. Exposure to international logistics, tariffs, or trade compliance. APICS CSCP, CPIM, CLTD, or similar certification. Previous leadership or management experience preferred. Core Competencies Analytical rigor — turns messy inventory and shipment data into decisions. Operational ownership — follows issues through to receipt, put away, pick, pack, and delivery. Process discipline — documents, standardizes, and improves how work is done. Cross-functional partnership — works equally well with warehouse, purchasing, finance, and vendors. Sense of urgency balanced with accuracy — service and inventory integrity both matter. Work Environment This role typically splits time between desk analysis and the warehouse or receiving dock. Occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs, walking the floor, and early or late coverage during inventory events or freight exceptions may be required. Travel is limited and usually related to 3PL, supplier, or sister-facility visits.
