Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Fill Dirt Mine Supervisor to lead and oversee operations at our surface mining site dedicated to fill dirt extraction. This role is vital in ensuring efficient, safe, and compliant mining activities while maintaining high standards of safety and productivity. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of underground and surface mining equipment, and a passion for operational excellence. As a supervisor, you will coordinate daily activities, manage equipment, enforce safety protocols, and foster a team-oriented environment to achieve project goals effectively. Responsibilities Supervise daily fill dirt extraction operations, ensuring adherence to safety standards and production schedules. Oversee the operation of heavy equipment including excavators, bulldozers, water trucks, forklifts, and drilling machines used in surface mining activities. Coordinate with team members to perform manual handling tasks safely and efficiently while utilizing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Monitor the use of underground mining equipment operation techniques when applicable, ensuring compliance with safety regulations such as OSHA standards. Conduct routine inspections of machinery and industrial equipment to identify maintenance needs or potential hazards. Enforce safety protocol adherence across all operations, including proper use of PPE, safe machine operation, and compliance with environmental regulations. Lead training sessions on safety standards in production, drilling in mining environments, horizontal drilling techniques, welding procedures, and other technical skills required for the role. Manage logistics related to surface mining equipment operation and ensure optimal utilization of resources such as water trucks and tanker vehicles. Maintain accurate records of operational activities, safety incidents, equipment maintenance logs, and compliance documentation. Skills Extensive knowledge of pipeline installation techniques and drilling machines used in mining or extraction processes. Proven experience operating underground coal mine equipment as well as surface mining machinery like excavators and Caterpillar heavy machinery. Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot industrial equipment issues promptly. Familiarity with OSHA safety standards, safety regulations in construction sites, and industry best practices for heavy lifting and manual handling tasks. Skilled in operating horizontal drilling tools, welding equipment, forklifts, water trucks, and other industrial machinery safely. Experience working outdoors in various weather conditions with a focus on outdoor work safety protocols. Ability to lead a team effectively while maintaining high safety standards during drilling in mining environments. Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) preferred for operating tanker trucks or water trucks; experience with construction or oil & gas industries is a plus.
