Job Description
As a Superintendent with Ledcor's Heavy Civil team, you will provide frontline leadership for earthworks construction activities, ensuring safe, efficient, and high quality execution throughout your shift. You'll oversee field crews, coordinate daily work plans, monitor production, and ensure all activities align with project specifications, drawings, schedules, and cost objectives. In this role, you'll be the go to lead on the ground—driving work methods, troubleshooting issues as they arise, and supporting a productive, engaged crew. You'll also foster strong working relationships with clients, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and fellow site staff to maintain a collaborative and solutions focused work environment. Essential Responsibilities:
Supervise all aspects of civil construction operations, ensuring compliance with approved plans, specifications, and company standards Maintain high-quality workmanship while optimizing labor and material efficiency Enforce site safety protocols that meet or exceed corporate, client, and regulatory requirements Monitor and update construction schedules to meet milestones and production targets Review supplier and subcontractor invoices for accuracy and report discrepancies Hire and manage hourly field staff in coordination with the Project Manager Prepare and process field change orders with client representatives as needed Lead planning meetings with Maintenance and Operations to ensure equipment readiness and operational continuityQualifications:
5-10 years of experience in a supervisory role within heavy civil construction, with a strong focus on earthworks Proven ability to manage project schedules and adapt to changing site conditions Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify solutions to complex challenges Effective communicator who can tailor messaging to various stakeholders Collaborative leader who fosters teamwork and consensus Willingness to travel and remain on-site for the duration of projectsWorking Conditions:
Site based position Able to meet the physical requirements of the position which involves sitting, standing, bending, climbing, lifting (up to 75 pounds), working at heights, in confined spaces and in all types of weather conditions (rain, snow, heat etc.) Ability to work a non-traditional schedule that could include nights and weekends Additional Information Ledcor Heavy Civil and Mining services reach across the lifespan of a mine, from facility construction, to full-scale contract mining of coal, minerals, or metals, all the way to mine reclamation.
