Job Description

Position Summary:
The Assistant Manager assists the Phase 1 Compost Manager with managing the quality and inventories of compost and raw materials along with scheduling and supervising the work force as well as responsible for following all applicable SOP s (Standard Operating Procedures).
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
High School or GED minimum with a Bachelor preferred. Mushroom Phase 1 composting experience preferred but willing to train. Supervisory experience is preferred. Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred. Basic mechanical knowledge regarding front end loaders, gear boxes and speed drives and conveyor systems is preferred. Knowledge of basic computer usage and familiarity with Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel, is required. A professional and positive attitude, adaptable to varied and challenging agricultural work environments, strong organizational skills, detail oriented with emphasis on accuracy, consistency, and confidentiality is required. A valid Driver s License is required.
Role and Responsibilities:
Follows all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's). Keeps up daily records that monitor compost quality. Assists with visual observation of Staff and compost condition. Keeps a daily report with the Phase 2 Management. Attends and participates in weekly compost meeting. Assists with disciplinary tasks (warnings, suspensions, terminations). Helps to supervise and control staff productivity (correct filling of tunnels). Assists with continuous improvement approaches to waste and cost reduction, crop improvement, labor efficiency and machine reliability. Attends all monthly Safety Meetings with management and staff. Maintains compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regs. Assists with oversight of employee staff and on-site contracted services. Review all variables to create more consistency. Adjust settings according to external environmental conditions. Monitor raw material quantity and quality. Monitor raw material quantity and quality. Always works safely and promotes a safe work environment. Attends all monthly Safety Meetings with Management and staff. Maintains compliance with all applicable local, state and federal regs. Manager Preferred Skills:
Knowledge of basic computer usage and familiarity with Microsoft Office suite. Some mechanical knowledge regarding front end loaders, gear boxes and speed drives is a plus.
Work Environment:
Always required to act professionally. Always exposed to a variety of temperatures, weather conditions, and sound levels. Occasionally exposed to hazardous conditions requiring personal protective equipment. Regularly required to participate in team safety meetings •This position will be required to work different shifts, weekends and holidays, if necessary, at discretion of the Phase 1 Manager
