Cement Quarry Superintendent#26-00472 Troutville, VA
All On-site Job Description Job Description:
We have an excellent opportunity for a Cement Quarry Superintendent to join our Roanoke Cement team. This exempt position will report to the plant Manager and will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the site. Core responsibilities include ensuring that the quarry runs efficiently and safely while meeting production targets. This position will also be responsible for managing a team of employees and ensuring that they are properly trained and equipped to perform their duties.
Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance with all federal and state safety regulations and policies. Oversee all aspects of the quarry operations, including drilling, blasting, loading, and hauling of materials. Develop and implement plans to increase efficiency and productivity while reducing costs. Manage inventory and ensure adequate supplies of raw materials to meet production demands. Monitor and control production schedules and ensure the timely delivery of materials to the cement plant. Supervise and train quarry employees to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to perform their jobs safely and effectively. Develop and maintain relationships with contractors, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure that the quarry operations run smoothly. Manage quarry equipment and ensure that it is properly maintained and repaired as needed.
Qualifications and Experience:
3-5 years' experience in the mining industry. At least 5 years of experience of supervisory experience. Currently hold a Virginia DMME Surface Foreman Certification or be qualified to apply for certification within 6 months of hire. Strong knowledge of quarry operations, including drilling, blasting, loading, and hauling. Competent in the use of MS Office (excel, word, power point) Familiar with MSHA regulations to ensure mining operations are safe and compliant with applicable laws. Knowledge of cement or aggregates manufacturing a plus. Expertise in heavy mobile equipment operations and maintenance. Self-motivated with the ability to foster a sense of collaboration and work effectively to achieve goals. Strong leadership and management skills. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deal effectively in a team environment. Ability to develop and implement plans to increase efficiency and productivity. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
