ABOUT US
Child Advocates - Denver CASA advocates for the best interests of children who have experienced abuse or neglect by training diverse volunteers who create opportunities for children, youth, and families to thrive. We train and supervise Court Appointed Special Advocate volunteers who work with children and youth who have an open child welfare case.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Partner with the Board to lead Denver CASA into its next chapter, providing overall leadership for a $1.1 million budget, 200+ volunteers, and a staff of three Directors and seven employees Build and sustain community partnerships and increase revenue generation while staying hands-on in daily operations Cultivate a transparent relationship with the Board around financial, programmatic, and impact performance Work with the Development Director on strategy that secures resources and diversifies revenue Oversee fiscal management, including the annual budget and adherence to revenue/expense goals
EXPECTATIONS
Within 15 Days Meet individually with the Board Chair, senior staff, and the outgoing Executive Director Review the current strategic plan, annual budget, and key funder relationships Begin building rapport with the staff of three Directors and seven employees Within 30 Days Assess community partnerships, including relationships with Denver Human Services and Denver Juvenile Court Review development strategy with the Development Director and contracted grant writer Begin attending Board and committee meetings as the primary staff liaison Within 60 Days Take full ownership of organizational strategy, budget oversight, and Board reporting Personally engage in donor cultivation and solicitation alongside the Development Director Present early priorities for sustainability and revenue diversification to the Board
NEED TO HAVE
Leadership Experience:
Minimum 5 years of progressive management experience
Sector Experience:
5+ years of related experience administering a volunteer, nonprofit, or public service agency preferred
Education:
Bachelor's degree required; Master's in Social Work, Public Policy, Nonprofit Management, or related field preferred (comparable child-welfare experience also considered)
Fundraising:
Demonstrated success securing and growing philanthropic support through foundations, corporations, government grants, major gifts, and individual donors
Strategy:
Demonstrated experience building sustainable growth strategies that strengthen impact, financial health, and community engagement
Fiscal Management:
Ability to build annual budgets and work directly with the accountant/bookkeeper and treasurer

SCHEDULE
Full-time, exempt Hybrid - two days per week in the office Primarily local travel in Denver metro, with occasional statewide travel (1-2x/year)
