Job Description

The Georgia Pecan Growers Association (GPGA) is seeking an Executive Director for its operations based in Tifton, Georgia. To perform the essential functions of the Executive Director position, the Board of Directors are looking for candidates with the following qualifications: A strong connection to, and understanding of, agriculture and agribusiness, preferably in the state of Georgia. The ability to communicate effectively with broad and diverse audiences, particularly farmers and governmental representatives, demonstrated through past experience. Previous employment experience that demonstrates effective management of a team, including evidence of humility, unity, common purpose, and results. Previous employment responsibilities that include promotional design and execution to achieve marketing objectives, including word of mouth, digital marketing, interaction and management of marketing agencies, and measurement of effectiveness using statistics. Strategic creation and management of marketing campaigns that will expand the reach and sales opportunities for its members. This position will require travel approximately 25% of the time, including some international travel. A Masters' Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or Public Administration, or equivalent experience working in the field (6 years minimum) is encouraged. The core responsibilities for the Executive Director are to coordinate the GPGA staff and the activities for the benefit of member growers. Those responsibilities center on the following areas:
Organizational:
The Executive Director is the liaison between the Board and the members and maintains records for membership and finances.
Meetings:
The Executive Director coordinates all meetings and produces minutes for them, including Board of Directors meetings, the Fall Field Day, and the Annual Conference and Trade Show.
Financial:
The Executive Director maintains all corporate accounts, including collection and disbursement of funds and reporting to the accountant and the Board of Directors on the financial health of the organization. They are also responsible for grant applications, fundraising campaigns, and preparation of the annual budget.
Publications:
The Executive Director maintains the website and oversees the editor of The Pecan Grower magazine, as well as handling all requests for information from government, education, scientists, and other organizations.
Membership:
The Executive Director maintains the lists of membership, the membership directory, enrolls new members, and manages renewals.
Public Relations:
The Executive Director is the first point of contact for any press contacts and will maintain a list of contacts in the media for dissemination of any press releases on behalf of the GPGA, as well as press kits and the the scheduling of any personal appearances by the Chairman of the Board.
Special Projects:
Other duties for the Executive Director may include speaking on behalf of the GPGA, attendance at state, regional, and national meetings on behalf of the GPGA, coordination with the Foreign Agricultural Service, representation of the GPGA at various shows, exhibitions, and events that promote Georgia pecans, and maintaining an effective working relationship with other organizations, including the Georgia Department of Agriculture, the Georgia Pecan Commission, and the American Pecan Council.

From $70,000.00 per year
